Giovanni Zarrella
Giovanni Zarrella (born March 4, 1978 in Hechingen ) is an Italian musician and television presenter . He became known in 2001 as the singer of the band Bro'Sis .
Youth and education
Giovanni Zarrella was born in 1978 in Hechingen as the first child of Clementina and Bruno Zarrella. Like his sister and brother, he grew up bilingual German-Italian. At a young age he took piano and organ lessons, with 15 singing lessons. He lived with his family in Italy in the early 1990s. He has Italian citizenship, but not German. At the age of 16 he formed his first band Brotherhood. In 1995 he obtained secondary school leaving certificate at the Hechingen secondary school . After obtaining his technical college entrance qualification , he did an apprenticeship as an IT systems administrator . Then he switched to Hugo Boss's sales department .
Career
Bro'Sis
On October 10, 2001, Zarrella and 1702 other applicants took part in a casting for the program Popstars in Stuttgart . With How Deep Is Your Love by the Bee Gees , he was able to convince the jury. In the re-call he was successful with You Remind Me by Usher and was tested for his band ability in the re-re-call with Way to Mars by Somersault & Xavier Naidoo .
In the “Airport Show” in Düsseldorf , the candidates first had to undergo dance training with Detlef Soost and then singing training with vocal coach Artemis Gounaki before a decision was made as to who was allowed to participate in the two-week workshop in Ibiza. Of the 33 candidates, three female and five male candidates remained at the end of the workshop and moved into a loft in Munich. In a special broadcast on November 11, 2001, Zarrella was voted last in the band Bro'Sis by jury members Soost and Christensen . Bro'Sis existed until 2006.
Television career
After Bro'Sis ended, Zarrella tried to stay away from his singing career through various appearances in series and shows in the media. In April 2005 he took part in the TV show Teufels Küche , from which he retired early due to injury. Together with his wife Jana Ina he turned for ProSieben telecast tough the reality show Just married! - Just married! , which portrayed the couple's everyday life in ten episodes. On August 30, 2005 Zarrella married the Brazilian model, the church wedding took place on September 3, 2005 in the St. Matthew Church in Bad Sobernheim (an der Nahe ). The soap was extended for another season.
In November 2005 Zarrella began moderating the youth magazine Bravo Sport TV on DSF , which he moderated until summer 2007; In August 2006, the games of the World League eSport Bundesliga followed on DSF with the program Screen Shot . In October 2005 he took part in the big ProSieben dance tournament with his wife . On August 28, 2008 the celebrity documentary Jana Ina & Giovanni - We are pregnant on ProSieben about Jana Ina's pregnancy and accompanied the couple until their son was born on September 23, 2008. Zarrella was also on June 6, 2008 at the TV total-Autoball European Championship and represented Italy there .
In 2008 he hosted the decision show of pop stars . Also in 2008 he took part in the TV Total Stock Car Race . In 2009, he hosted the show Germany's most terrible… once a week on ProSieben , in which four episodes were looking for the most terrible drivers, do-it-yourselfers, athletes and cooks.
In October 2009 he won the Sat.1 dance competition Yes, We Can Dance , where he performed Smooth Criminal in memory of Michael Jackson . He won 50,000 euros, which he shared with runner-up Ross Antony . Half of the profit went to Kinderdorf Rio e. V. in Oberhausen and to the Troisdorf animal shelter. In December 2009 Zarrella hosted the semifinals and the finals of the eighth Popstars season Popstars - Du & Ich together with Charlotte Engelhardt .
In 2010 ProSieben showed a program under the title Jana Ina & Giovanni - Pizza, Pasta & Amore, about the couple's private life after the birth of their first child and the search for a suitable house. They were also accompanied at the opening of their restaurant Settantotto , which opened in the same year but has since closed . In 2010 he took part in the TV-Total Autoball World Cup, where he represented Italy. Zarrella was able to prevail in the final against Stefan Raab , who competed for Germany, and thus win the event, which took place in Cologne's Lanxess Arena . He also participated in the game show Schlag den Star and was subject to the Bundeswehr doctor John. In 2012 Zarrella won the Autoball European Championship . In 2012 he made a guest appearance as a pizza delivery boy in the movie Fresh Pressed .
From September 2013 Zarrella belonged to the ensemble of the radio station RPR1 and supported the daily morning show as the third member. In 2013 he dubbed one of the main roles for the animated film Turbo - Little Snail, Big Dream . In 2014 Zarrella was again victorious at the TV-Total Autoball World Cup. Since September 2014, Zarrella can be seen as a guest in Champions League coverage of the Fantalk program on Sport1 . From September 2015, Zarrella will also be co-moderator at Sport1, where she will report, alongside moderator Oliver Schwesinger, on UEFA Europa League games .
In 2015 he dubbed the main role Manolo in the animated film Manolo and the Book of Life . In June 2016, he and Jana Ina presented the broadcast of Daniela Katzenberger and Lucas Cordalis' wedding . He then moderated other formats for RTL2 such as Die Hitrekorde , Celebs at the stove - Who cooks better , The great RTL II celebrity curling evening and Treasure yourself rich - The junk quiz .
In 2017 he replaced the injured Pietro Lombardi in the tenth season of Let's Dance . After four shows, his professional dance partner Christina Luft was injured . Marta Arndt could be won as a replacement , with whom he danced his way to fourth place.
Together with Olaf the Viking, Zarrella won the 1st Headis Team World Cup , which was broadcast on ProSieben in March 2019.
Career as a solo musician
Zarrella's first solo single Ticket to the Moon , a cover version of the ballad of the same name from the ELO album Time , was released in July 2006. His album Coming Up followed a month later. Album and single missed the chart entry.
After a two-year absence from the music business, his second solo single Wundervoll , an Italian-German cover version by Robin Grubert , appeared in the course of the start of the celebrity documentary in October 2008 , which entered the German single charts at number 9 and reached number 84 in the annual charts. His second solo album, Musica , was released in November 2008. Zarrella starred in Mario Venezia's music video Forgive Me in February 2009 .
In January 2010, the theme song for the show I Can't Dance Alone , a duet with his former bandmate Ross Antony , was released as a single together with the song Il Mondo . In February the new edition of his second album Ancora Musica followed , which had been supplemented by five new songs and reached number 32. In May 2012, Zarrella's fourth solo single Viva La Mamma , an Italian-German cover by Edoardo Bennato , was available for download. In June he published the title Forza Italia on YouTube on the occasion of the 2012 European Football Championship . In July 2012 he released the single Buona Sera Signorina as a download. A 2014 cover version of Bella Ciao by Mauro Mondello feat. Giovanni Zarrella was re-released in June 2018 after the song gained popularity that year through the House of Money series .
In early 2019, Zarrella signed a record deal with 221 Music. The singles Santa Maria and Il più buono were released in March 2019 as pre-couplings for his Italian hit album La vita è bella . The latter is an Italian version of the Roland Kaiser hit The most pious cannot live in peace . The next single was Dammi , an Italian version of Wolfgang Petrys madness . With the third single, Senza te (Without you) , a duet with Pietro Lombardi , he was able to place in the single charts in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The album reached number 2 in the German album charts and the top 10 in Austria and Switzerland. In November 2019, the album was awarded a gold record . La vita è bella was at number 25 in the 2019 album charts based on sales .
Vintage Vegas
Together with the former pop star candidates Inan Lima and Tom Marks, Giovanni Zarrella founded the Trio Vintage Vegas in 2013 , which presents current pop songs in a swing garb. The first album by the band Let's Swop was released in November 2014. Immediately after the release of the debut album, Vintage Vegas went on tour with the Holiday-on-Ice show Passion as a guest. From December 2015 to March 2016 they could be seen again in the musical show Passion by Holiday on Ice .
Soccer
From 1992 to 1994 Zarrella played in the youth of AS Roma , to which he remained loyal as a fan. After moving back to Germany, he switched to the youth team at VfB Stuttgart . He later played in the second team of SSV Reutlingen in the association league. Since 2008 he and his brother have played first in the district league A Middle Rhine for the Ideal CF Casa de España Cologne and later in the district league B for the third senior team of FC Rheinsüd Köln .
