Ross Antony (2016)

Ross Antony (born July 9, 1974 in Bridgnorth , England ; actually Ross Anthony Catterall ) is a British television presenter , musical performer , musician and entertainer who lives and works in Germany . From 2001 until the dissolution in 2006 he was a member of the band Bro'Sis . In 2013 he started a career as a pop singer .

Beginnings and personal life

Born in England, he comes from a family of artists and was on stage for the first time at the age of three. He received singing and dance lessons early on. After high school, he completed a three-year course at the Guildford School of Acting for Music, Dance and Drama in 1995 with a diploma. During this time he took part in numerous pantomimes (fairy tale games) and musicals in England. In 1997 he made his debut on a German stage as "Field Marshall" at the world premiere of the musical Catharine in Aachen . In Germany he played many leading roles such as "Claude" in the musical Hair in Bremen, "Joseph" in the musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat in Essen or the "Tabaluga" in the Peter Maffay musical Tabaluga & Lilli in Oberhausen. From 1999 he also took part in the musical Mozart in Vienna. Ross Antony lived from 2006 in a registered civil partnership with the opera singer Paul Reeves , they are based in Siegburg near Bonn . He and his partner also ran a bed and breakfast in Wallingford, Oxfordshire , England called Little Gables . They sold this because of concerns about Brexit . On May 26, 2014, he announced on his Facebook page that he had adopted a child with Paul Reeves . Both had fought for it for a long time. In March 2017, the couple announced the adoption of a second child. Antony has been married to Reeves since December 2017.

Career

Bro'Sis in Hamburg (2004)

Bro'Sis

Antony's career breakthrough came as a member of the band Bro'Sis. From around 2000 applicants, Antony was cast as part of the ensemble in the second season of pop stars .

In August 2004, shortly before the release of the third Bro'Sis album, the singer came out in the Viva-Bams as homosexual and introduced his friend, the British opera singer Paul Reeves , to the public .

Solo music career

Even before his time at Bro'Sis, Antony released the solo CDs Intimate and … and that's the way it is during his engagement with Tabaluga & Lilli .

In June 2005 Antony completed a four-month guest engagement with the Stuttgart Elisabeth Production, where he played Crown Prince Rudolf . There he received a "marriage proposal" from his partner Paul Reeves on stage during his last appearance. The wedding took place on September 2nd, 2006 in Worpswede near Bremen.

In December 2006 he was seen in the role of Bobby C in the musical Saturday Night Fever at the Alte Oper Frankfurt .

On January 18, 2008, the single Dschungel Wahnsinn by Achim Petry was released , in which Ross was involved with other candidates from the jungle camp.

For Casino Pique Dame , an unpublished musical based on the novella Pique Dame by Alexander Pushkin , a single was released on February 29, 2008 with Antony's solo Endlich da . Furthermore, the single contains the duet Before God All People Are Equal , which Antony recorded with Paul Reeves.

On December 1, 2011, the album Two Ways was released , which Ross recorded with Paul Reeves. A winter edition of the album was released in October 2012. To this end, the music video Silent Night was filmed in the couple's house , which celebrated its video premiere on October 19, 2012 on Clipfish .

On June 28, 2013, Antony's first solo album Meine Neue Liebe was released , which mainly contains cover versions of German hits . In October 2013, the single Do You Speak English was released as a download. In November, the Christmas song Ding Ding Dong, composed especially for him, was released . In April 2014 the song Kettenkarussell was released as a download.

On October 24, 2014 Antony released his second hit album Goldene Pferde , with which he entered the German album charts at number 65. His third hit album Tatort Liebe reached number 37 in the German and number 68 in the Austrian album charts.

In September 2017 Antony released his fourth Schlager album Aber Please mit Schlager . In December 2018, Ross Antony became a member of the charity project Schlagerstars für Kinder and recorded the song Auf once again with the group . The campaign collects money for children in need with the Christmas song.

Antony's autobiography The Inside Me was published on March 18, 2007 by Machtwortverlag, in which Antony discusses drugs, sexual abuse, experiences of violence, lovesickness and lost lust for life.

In October 2016, Antony's first children's book, Mein Freund Button , appeared, which he published in collaboration with the author Sabine Zett. A CD with 12 children's songs was also released with the book.
