    The eighth season of the German reality show Ich bin ein Star - Get me out of here! was broadcast from January 17 to February 1, 2014 on the private broadcaster RTL .

    Melanie Müller was elected jungle queen in the final with around 60% of audience calls. Larissa Marolt came second and Jochen Bendel came third.

    Moderators

    Sonja Zietlow and Daniel Hartwich moderated the show; Zietlow for the eighth time, Hartwich for the second time. As in previous seasons, the paramedic Bob McCarron alias “Dr. Bob ”responsible.

    The originally planned Sara Kulka was expecting her first child in January 2014 and had to cancel. She made the participation of Larissa Marolt possible.

    Michael Wendler, who voluntarily left the camp on January 20th after four days, was the first candidate in the history of the show to then express his will to reverse this decision and move back into the camp. However, a new move was refused by production.

    Jungle exams

    Of the total jungle exams this season, Larissa Marolt has completed the most jungle exams; six jungle tests together with other candidates and four jungle tests alone. On January 24, 2014, Larissa Marolt took the jungle test for the eighth time in a row, setting a new international record in the broadcast format. The majority of the candidates have passed at least one jungle exam; except Corinna Drews and Julian FM Stoeckel.

    Of the 145 possible rations or stars, the candidates earned a total of 81 rations or stars. Thus a little more than half of the possible rations or stars were earned (55.86%).

    Audience ratings

    On average, 7.94 million (31.3 percent) of the total audience and 4.67 million (44.4 percent) of the advertising-relevant target group watched the eighth season of the show on RTL.

    The highest number of viewers in this season was measured with 8.60 million viewers on February 1, 2014; it was the season finale. The lowest number of viewers in this season (apart from Das große Wiedersehen and Welcome Home ) had the show on January 28, 2014 (episode 12): a total of 7.20 million viewers watched.
