The ninth season of the German reality show Ich bin ein Star - Get me out of here! was broadcast from January 16 to 31, 2015 on the private broadcaster RTL . The finale aired on January 31, 2015.
Maren Gilzer was voted the jungle queen in the final with around 56% of audience calls. Jörn Schlönvoigt came second and Tanja Tischewitsch came third.
As in the last two years, the moderators were Sonja Zietlow and Daniel Hartwich . The paramedic Bob McCarron alias “Dr. Bob".

Maren Gilzer, Jörn Schlönvoigt, Rebecca Siemoneit-Barum, Sara Kulka and Benjamin Boyce moved into the camp on January 15, while Tanja Tischewitsch, Rolf "Rolfe" Scheider, Aurelio Savina, Walter Freiwald, Patricia Blanco and Angelina Heger moved into the camp on January 16. January.
On January 27, 2015, no one had to leave the camp due to Angelina Heger's voluntary departure. The calls on that day were included in the calculation on the following day. This regulation was only announced after the telephone vote. Tischewitsch and Savina had very few calls that day.
On January 31, RTL announced that the contract with Benjamin Boyce had been terminated and that Benjamin Boyce would not participate in any further dates, such as the “big reunion”.

Jungle exams
Walter Freiwald, Maren Gilzer, Jörn Schlönvoigt and Tanja Tischewitsch each completed four jungle tests. Patricia Blanco is the only candidate of this season who has not taken a jungle exam.
Of the 149 rations or stars, the candidates earned a total of 74 rations or stars, which corresponds to a share of 49.66%. For the first time in the history of the show, less than half of the rations or stars were earned.

The ninth season was watched by an average of 6.74 million people, which corresponds to a market share of 28.3 percent. In the target group of 14 to 49 year olds, an average market share of 40.2 percent was achieved with an average of 3.73 million people.
The highest number of viewers in this season (7.5 million) was measured in the first episode on January 16, 2015; the lowest (5.64 million) two days later on January 18, 2015. For comparison: the highest number of viewers in season eight was 8.6 million viewers; the lowest 7.2 million viewers.

criticism
In contrast to previous seasons, the ninth season was criticized for being not very entertaining. The BZ from Berlin stopped its daily reporting, which in turn became the basis of some of the jokes by Zietlow and Hartwich in the 11th episode.
