The tenth season of the German reality show Ich bin ein Star - Get me out of here! was broadcast from January 15 to 30, 2016 on the private broadcaster RTL .

As in the last three years, the moderators were Sonja Zietlow and Daniel Hartwich . The paramedic Bob McCarron alias “Dr. Bob “was there again.

King of the jungle became Menderes Bağcı , who won the last telephone voting against Sophia Wollersheim with 81.11% of the calls.

This season's theme song was “Hey Everybody!” By the Australian band 5 Seconds of Summer .

Changes from previous seasons

In the run-up to the season, the participants were no longer housed together in the Hotel Palazzo Versace, but individually in different, simple hostels in order to avoid collusion as much as possible. In the course of this, the candidates flew to Australia independently of each other , and there was also a contact ban, which, among other things, prohibited phone calls between the participants in advance.

In addition, there were two camps in the first three days, Base Camp and Camp Snake Rock , which competed against each other in the jungle tests.

For the first time in 2016, twelve instead of eleven candidates competed against each other. Brigitte Nielsen , winner of the sixth season in 2012, was in the jungle camp for the second time, as she was the show I am a star - let me in again! in the summer of 2015. The participants moved to the camp on January 14, 2016 Australian time.

Distribution of the participants
At the beginning of the season there were two camps for the first time and thus the teams Base Camp and Snake Rock . The producers divided the candidates into the respective teams. During the team phase, the jungle tests were conducted as duels, in which one candidate per camp fought for stars or food rations. Only the winning team received the number of rations they had earned, the losing team had to make do with rice and beans.

After three days in the Australian jungle, the camps were merged on January 18th. The candidates of the Snake Rock team went to the well-known camp that has been used by the Base Camp team since the beginning of the season.

Jungle tests or duels

In the jungle duels, the candidates have to fight for as many stars as possible for their respective team. The candidates - at least one from each team - compete against each other. If you have earned the most stars at the end of the test, you will receive a food ration for your team for each star you collect. The loser's collected stars expire. The loser of the jungle test or the losing team only gets rice and beans to eat.

On January 18, the two teams were disbanded and brought together in the base camp. So there are jungle tests again like in the previous seasons.

As part of the jungle duels, the candidates earned 39 stars out of a total of 60 stars, of which only 24 stars were converted into food rations. In the jungle duels, a total of 65.00% stars could be earned.

In the jungle tests, the candidates earned a total of 59 rations or stars from the 106 food rations or stars that had been possible so far. Thus a total of 55.66% stars could be earned in the jungle tests.

In the whole season, a total of 98 out of 166 stars have been earned so far. Thus a total of 59.04% of the stars could be earned. 83 stars have been converted into food rations.

For the second and third time in the history of the show, an exam was passed with zero stars - without refusing or abandoning it. The first time this was in the first season . Furthermore, the tenth season is the first season in which a total of five jungle tests were completed with zero stars.

Treasure hunt

The candidates go on a treasure hunt (usually in pairs) and solve a task. If successful, they often bring a treasure chest to the camp. There the chest is opened, in which there is a quiz question with two possible answers. If the candidates answer the task correctly, there is a prize such as sweets or spices; if they answer incorrectly, there is a useless consolation prize such as a garden gnome. Less often there is a profit immediately after solving the problem.

An average of 7.09 million people (28.6 percent) aged three and over watched the tenth season. 4.03 million of the 14 to 49 year olds corresponds to a market share of 41.1 percent.
