Acetyldihydrocodeine is a substance from the group of opiate - descendants , taken in 1914 by the German chemist Julius von Braun was discovered. It is regulated as an addictive substance (in Germany: non-marketable narcotics according to the Narcotics Act ) and has a similar effect to other opiates. The analgesic and cough suppressant substance has no therapeutic effect . Acetyldihydrocodeine is chemically very closely related to the morphine derivative thebacone , in which only the 6-7 bond is unsaturated. Acetyldihydrocodeine can be described as the 6-acetyl derivative of dihydrocodeine .
