Prince Damien
Messiah Prince Sheridan Damien Ritzinger (born December 12, 1990 in Johannesburg ) is a German - South African singer , songwriter , choreographer , dancer and dance teacher . In May 2016 he won the thirteenth season of the singing casting show Deutschland sucht den Superstar and in January 2020 the fourteenth season of Ich bin ein Star - Get me out of here! .
Life
The mother of Prince Damien, who was born in South Africa, comes from there, his father Messiah Ritzinger comes from Bavaria and works as a catering manager on cruise ships , including the cruise ship Norwegian Jewel . After the death of his mother, Prince Damien lived with his father and his one year older sister in Munich from 1991 . The family was later joined by an Indonesian stepmother and a half-sister who was nine years her junior. After graduating from high school in 2011, he studied music production and sound engineering at the Akademie Deutsche POP in Munich. From 2007 to 2012 he was the lead singer with the hip hop trio B-Cool (later renamed Absolut Raw ) until the band split up. He graduated in 2013. Since then he has worked as a singer, songwriter and music producer and teaches hip-hop and street jazz at various dance schools.
In 2014, Prince Damien was featured in the photo love story Song for You in BRAVO magazine . In it he played a musician who wants to conquer his dream woman. In an extra role as a tram guest, he appeared in the 2014 feature film The Case with Truth . From 2014 he worked as The Prince of Dance on the comeback of the Eurodance band Pharao . The mini album MR. EASY , which contains six songs, is released.
Casting shows
From April 2015, Prince Damien went through various auditions on the British casting show The X-Factor together with his guitarist Eduard Wagner after he had passed an initial preselection in Newcastle . This was followed by appearances in June 2015 in London , where he passed a second challenge and thus entered the main round, which took place in the sold-out SSE-ARENA in Wembley . Here Prince Damien performed the acoustic version of the song Easy Breezy he had written and then took part in the so-called boot camp.
As a participant in the thirteenth season of the talent show Deutschland sucht den Superstar , Prince Damien received one of four “Golden CDs” from juror Michelle in 2015 , with which he qualified directly for the recall in Jamaica after he wrote the song Valerie by The Zutons in the version of Amy Winehouse had sung. During the season, he was quickly considered a bird of paradise among the candidates. Trademarks are its mohawk and glued rivets - " piercings " above the left eyebrow.
Prince Damien emerged as the winner from the final show on May 7, 2016 in the ISS Dome in Düsseldorf . In addition to the prize money of 500,000 euros, Prince Damien received a record deal with Universal Music .
Career
With the song Glücksmoment written by Dieter Bohlen , Prince Damien reached number one in the download charts and later also in the German singles charts . In May 2016 his first album Glücksmomente, produced by Bohlen, was released by Universal Music. In Germany it rose to number three on the album charts. Together with Laura van den Elzen , Thomas Katrozan , Mark Hoffmann, Anita Wiegand and Igor Barbosa, the last participants who left Germany sucht den Superstar , Prince Damien was accompanied by a band on a tour of Germany.
In the computer animation film Sing , which was released in German cinemas in December 2016, Prince Damien lent his voice to a frog. In 2017 he was a candidate for the show Dance Dance Dance , which was broadcast by RTL. His dance partner was the DSDS winner Luca Hänni . Together they became winners of the second season. In 2018/19 he was vocal coach for the 16th season of Germany is looking for the superstar at the side of the former DSDS candidate Juliette Schoppmann .
In 2019 he was part of the ensemble of the musical The Band and played one of the five boy band singers. The premiere was on April 11, 2019 at the Theater des Westens in Berlin. Parallel to his participation in the jungle camp, the single Easy Breezy was released on January 25, 2020 , which placed 24th on the iTunes charts. On the same day he won the 14th season of the RTL jungle camp as "Jungle King" I am a star - Get me out of here! .
