The eleventh season of the German reality show Ich bin ein Star - Get me out of here! was broadcast on the private broadcaster RTL from January 13 to 29, 2017 .

On February 11, 2017, an additional program with the title “I'm a star - get me out of here! The aftermath ” broadcast. A program with a similar content was broadcast in seasons 8 and 9 under the title “Welcome Home”.

As in the last four years, the moderators were Sonja Zietlow and Daniel Hartwich . The paramedic Bob McCarron alias “Dr. Bob “was there again.

The jungle king was Marc Terenzi , who won the last telephone vote against Hanka Rackwitz with 74.30% of the calls.

    Changes from previous seasons

There were only minor changes compared to last year's anniversary season.

As in the previous year, there were initially two camps, whereby the team composition of Base Camp and Snake Rock was not determined by the production management, as in the tenth season, but was chosen by the respective team leaders. In addition, the entire design including the logo was modernized.

    Attendees

As in the previous year, twelve candidates competed against each other. The participants moved to the camp on January 13, 2017, Australian time. Originally, Nastassja Kinski should have moved into the jungle camp. However, she withdrew her participation before the start of the season and was replaced by Kader Loth . According to media reports, Kinski threatens to pay damages of up to 50,000 euros for breach of contract. In contrast to all previous seasons of the format, none of the participants left the camp without having been selected by the audience.

Alexander chose “Honey” Keen for the Base Camp team and Hanka Rackwitz for the Snake Rock team . During the team phase, the jungle tests were carried out as duels in which one or two candidates per camp competed for stars or food rations. Only the winning team received the number of rations it earned, the losing team had to make do with rice and beans.

    Jungle tests or duels

In the jungle duels, the candidates had to fight for as many stars as possible for their respective team. The candidates - at least one from each team - competed against each other. Whoever earned the most stars at the end of the test received a food ration for their team for each star collected. The loser's collected stars fell into disrepair. The loser of the jungle test or the losing team only got rice and beans to eat. On the last day of broadcast, the candidates earned stars for their luxury dinner. The first three stars were given for the respective dishes, the fourth for a drink for the candidate; the fifth star meant a "goodie" for the candidate.

As part of the jungle duels, the candidates earned 30 stars out of a total of 60, of which 24 stars were converted into food rations. In total, 50.00% of the stars could be earned in the jungle duels.

In the jungle tests, the candidates earned a total of 56 rations or stars from the possible 111 food rations or stars. Thus, 50.45% of the stars were earned in the jungle tests.

In the whole season, a total of 86 out of 171 stars were earned, i.e. 50.29% of the stars. 80 stars have been converted into food rations.

3 Marc Terenzi was able to win the second and fifth star of the examination and thus earned a main course for the candidates as well as a goodie.

    Treasure hunt

The candidates went on a treasure hunt in pairs and solved a task. If successful, they brought a treasure chest to the camp. There the chest was opened and revealed a quiz question with two possible answers. If the candidates answered the question correctly, there was a prize such as sweets or spices; if they answered incorrectly, they would receive a useless consolation prize such as a garden gnome. More rarely there was an immediate win after solving the task. During the camp division, the treasure hunts were also carried out as a challenge between the teams.

    Trivia

    • In his opinion, Markus Majowski was not released quickly enough after the treasure hunt was over and threatened with a criminal complaint. He spoke of assault in interviews and expected a public apology, later he only wanted to have played the breakout.
    • Due to numerous rule violations, the campers had to give up all cigarettes and a total of 15 out of 16 luxury items from January 23rd to 25th.
    • In the eleventh season, for the first time since the show began, nobody left the camp without being voted out by the audience. In addition, it is the only season so far in which the entire vote went according to plan (in the 13th season no one dropped out voluntarily or for health reasons, but there was a server problem in one episode, so that the last candidate there was only known the following day) .
