The tenth season of the German singing casting show Deutschland sucht den Superstar was broadcast from January 5 to May 11, 2013 on the RTL television program. In the final, Beatrice Egli was able to prevail against Lisa Wohlgemuth .
procedure
On April 30, 2012, RTL announced that DSDS would be continued in 2013 despite the ratings that had fallen in the ninth season. Dieter Bohlen remained a member of the jury. Last year's jury members Natalie Horler and Bruce Darnell were replaced by Tokio Hotel members Bill and Tom Kaulitz and the singer of the band Culcha Candela , Mateo "Itchyban" Jaschik . The programs of this season were moderated by actors Raúl Richter and Nazan Eckes , the previous moderator Marco Schreyl no longer appeared.
Re-recall
36 candidates made it into the re-recall on Curaçao . There were:
20 men: Tim David Weller, Erwin Kintop , Wincent Weiss , Micha Margraf, Piero Lama, Denis Roland Martin, Ricardo Bielecki, Kevin Dukes, Maurice Glover, Kevin Jenewein, Sergen Horóz, René Müller, Lucas Lehnert, Thomas Bobert, Björn Bussler, Bojan Odjakov, Simone Mangiapane, Ricardo Schwarz, Timo Tiggeler and Daniel Abazi.
16 women: Beatrice Egli , Jennifer Warren, Laura Kleinas, Talina Domeyer, Sarah Joelle Jahnel , Oksana Kolenitchenko, Susan Albers , Nora Ferjani, Lisa Wohlgemuth , Vaide Braimi, Fairuz Fussi, Angelina Oujegova, Diyana Hensel , Jolijn Middelhoff, Aline Bachmann and Lara Qualo.
Eight participants were ultimately selected by the jury for the motto shows, six more (known as wobbly candidates) for a one-week audience vote, after which the two candidates with the best voting results also qualified for the motto shows.

The result was announced at the beginning of the first motto show on March 16. All six candidates had prepared a song, Lisa Wohlgemuth and Simone Mangiapane were allowed to present theirs as selected participants.

First motto show
The first motto show took place on March 16, 2013. It had the motto My Superstar and began with the announcement of the wobbly candidate vote. Before the individual performances, the ten best candidates presented the song What a Feeling by Irene Cara together . Nora Ferjani was eliminated.

Second motto show
The second motto show took place on March 23, 2013. The motto of the show was "Love is ...". The nine candidates initiated the show with the song Scream & Shout by Will.i.am and Britney Spears . Pietro and Sarah Lombardi performed as a show act with their single Dream Team . Maurice Glover dropped out.

At the beginning, the candidates opened the show with a medley of the songs Lila Wolken by Marteria , Yasha & Miss Platnum and Ein Stern (... who bears your name) by Nik P. & DJ Ötzi . After all seven candidates had sung, Alexander Klaws was a guest and presented his new single Heaven and Hell . In the end, the moderators announced the departure of Simone Mangiapane.

Semifinals
The semifinals took place on May 4th. Heino appeared as a guest star with his single Junge . In this show there was again a decision broadcast after the actual show, due to the boxing match between Wladimir Klitschko and Francesco Pianeta . Looking for the superstar in Germany - the decision was announced at midnight that Ricardo Bielecki would leave. There are two women in the final and after Elli Erl , who won the second season , there will be a female superstar for the second time in the history of DSDS.

The final took place on May 11th. The eliminated 8 of the top 10 candidates were guests and sang together the song What a Feeling by Irene Cara . The finalists each sang their favorite song, their season highlight and their winning title. In 2013 there were two different winning songs for the first time since the fifth season. In addition, the fans were allowed to determine the starting order of the candidates through an internet vote. Lisa Wohlgemuth fell ill with a larynx in the week before the final , but entered the final. In the event of Lisa Wohlgemuth's failure, Ricardo Bielecki would have moved up as a substitute candidate, instead he sang the song Impossible by James Arthur after the finalists had performed .
Beatrice Egli is the winner of the tenth season and thus a superstar of 2013 . For the second time in a row after Luca Hänni there was a Swiss victory.

During the week of the shaky candidate voting, nude recordings by participant Sarah Joelle Jahnel appeared in the April issue of German Playboy . She was the first DSDS top 15 candidate to publish official nude photos.
For the first time in a DSDS season, three women reached the round of the last four.
