    The sixth season of the German singing casting show Deutschland sucht den Superstar was broadcast from January 21 to May 9, 2009 on the RTL television program.

    The previous jury members Anja Lukaseder and Andreas "Bear" Läsker were in the 2009 season by music manager Volker Neumüller , as well as the MTV presenter Nina Eichinger replaced. The originally planned Max von Thun resigned voluntarily after the first casting due to serious differences with chief juror Dieter Bohlen.

    The sixth season was again moderated by Marco Schreyl .

    In the final Daniel Schuhmacher won against Sarah Kreuz .

    First motto show

    The first motto show was titled Greatest Hits and took place on March 7, 2009. Michelle Bowers replaced Vanessa Civiello, who had left voluntarily. However, Bowers had to leave the show the same evening after it received the fewest audience votes.

    On May 9th, Sarah Kreuz and Daniel Schuhmacher fought for the title Superstar 2009 . In the first round, the opponents sang a song of their choice, then a song that they had already sung in a live show and in the third round everyone sang the winning track Anything but Love .

    After the performances of the two finalists, there was a reunion with the top 10 candidates who, together with the finalists, interpreted the song (I've Had) The Time of My Life by the original interpreters Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes .

    Daniel Schuhmacher is the winner of the sixth season and thus a superstar in 2009 .

    After the show, Frauke Ludowig hosted , as in previous years, Explosiv Spezial - The Night of Superstars .
