The fifth season of the German singing talent show Deutschland sucht den Superstar was broadcast from January 23 to May 17, 2008 on the RTL television program. Dieter Bohlen and Anja Lukaseder remained jury members, while Heinz Henn was replaced by the manager of the Fantastischen Vier , Andreas “Bär” Läsker . Presenter Tooske Ragas was also no longer there, so Marco Schreyl presented the show alone. Among the last 25 candidates was Trong Hieu , who would win the sixth season of Vietnam Idol in 2015 .

It won Thomas Godoj . Like Mark Medlock , he had the highest number of calls from the first Top 15 show to the finale.

On May 17th, Fady Maalouf and Thomas Godoj fought for the title of Superstar 2008 . In the first round, the opponents sang a song of their choice, then a song that they had already sung in a live show and in the third round everyone sang their winning title.

After the finalists' appearances, the two performed a duet with the song My Way by Frank Sinatra .

Thomas Godoj is the winner of the fifth season and thus a 2008 superstar .

After the show, Frauke Ludowig hosted , as in previous years, Explosiv Spezial - The Night of Superstars .
