The twelfth season of the German singing talent show Deutschland sucht den Superstar was broadcast from January 7th to May 16th, 2015 on the RTL TV program. In the final, Severino Seeger was able to prevail against Viviana Grisafi and Antonio Gerardi.

Castings and recall

The season started on Wednesday, January 7, 2015. In addition to the permanent jury member Dieter Bohlen , the jury included pop stars winner Mandy Capristo , DJ Antoine and pop singer Heino . There was no moderator until the event shows; Oliver Geissen moderated from the first event show . The raffle announcements during the auditions were spoken by Menderes Bağcı . In addition to Menderes, Heino's wife was a permanent guest. In the casting rounds, each candidate selected a gold CD with the name of the juror, whose vote should be the decisive factor for advancement or elimination in the event of an undecided jury vote. Menderes reached the recall for the fourth time. A "quickpick" was held there, at which each candidate had to audition again. RTL did not broadcast this Germany recall. Instead, only a short scene was shown in which Bohlen announced that the 34 who stepped out of the 110 recall candidates were in the Thailand recall.

In this season the singer and comedian Kazim Akboga also appeared in the castings with his own composition Is' mir Egal , which was rewritten as a promotional song for the Berlin transport company in the same year ; he didn't make it into the recall.

Re-recall

A total of 16 women and 18 men reached the international recall. For the first four performances, the candidates appeared separately by gender in groups of three or four with predetermined songs. A candidate dropped out before the first appearance; his group then sang as a duo. The motto for the first appearance on one of the tallest buildings in Bangkok was "Black and White". After four candidates had been eliminated, the next episode the newly divided groups appeared in front of the jury desk set up in the middle of a street. In addition to singing, they had to prepare a choreography and an intro. This round meant the end for three candidates. After the third appearance in a historical temple complex just outside Bangkok, the jury sorted out seven candidates, and 19 advanced. These occurred on the beach of the Ko Hong island in the south of the country, which is part of the Ko Hong archipelago, five of them for the last time by jury judgment. The remaining 14 candidates sang seven mixed- or same-sex duets on a swimming pool covered with plexiglass . Four of them had to leave the show afterwards.

The first event show was recorded on April 11th in Ischgl under the motto Top of the Mountain and finally broadcast on April 25th. The group song of the top ten was Auf uns by Andreas Bourani . After appearing in the top ten, Andreas Gabalier made a guest appearance. The decision was announced live after the recorded broadcast. Marcel Kärcher and Leon Heidrich had the fewest calls.

Second event show

The second event show was recorded on April 29th in the Balver Höhle under the motto Dome of Stone and broadcast on May 2nd. The top 8 group song was Love Runs Out by OneRepublic . The recording was followed by a live decision in which there was a slip of the tongue by the moderator Oliver Geissen : He read the phone number for Laura Lopez incorrectly. Nevertheless, he announced that Robin Eichinger and Laura Lopez had received the fewest audience votes and were therefore eliminated.

Third event show

The third event show was recorded on May 5th in the Leipzig Glass Hall and broadcast on May 9th. In this show, the candidates each sang a single song and a duet with another candidate. The group songs of the top 6 were Blame by Calvin Harris feat. John Newman and Outside by Calvin Harris feat. Ellie Goulding . After the recording, the results were announced live. Seraphina Ueberholz, Jeannine Rossi and Erica Greenfield had to leave the show.

Fourth event show

On May 16, the DSDS final took place live in the ÖVB-Arena in Bremen. At the beginning the 10 candidates sang the title Auf uns by Andreas Bourani , then the finalists the song Don't Worry by Madcon feat. Ray Dalton . After each candidate performed solo once, Antonio Gerardi had to leave the show in 3rd place. In the end, Severino Seeger won with 58.57 percent of the vote. During the show, the Sons of Mannheim appeared with the song Go from it .

criticism

TV critics were tough on the first event show. David Grzeschik wrote for Oddsmeter.de, for example: “All of this [...] resulted in a completely unsuccessful product that simply did not want to reach the audience. Situational emotions did not arise at any point in time, instead everything seemed controlled and not very authentic. RTL completely sabotaged the experience of a live show, which is characterized by the unpredictability factor. Instead, the editors never tired of unpacking the right picture or sound effect for every botch. "
