Once around the world is a song and an EP by the German rapper and singer Cro . The song was released on February 11, 2011 on the mixtape Meine Musik . In addition, it was released on November 2, 2012 as the fifth and final single from his first studio album Raop in EP form.

Cro raps the lyrics from the perspective of a lyric self addressing his girlfriend. The chorus says that she no longer needs to worry about money and that he wants to travel around the world with her. In the first stanza he brags about luxury goods, such as caviar and champagne , which he can afford because of his wealth. It also mentions places that both want to visit, such as London , New York City , Paris , Hawaii and Los Angeles . The second verse deals with the extravagant wishes of the friend who wants designer shoes from Manolo Blahnik , Prada , Gucci and Lacoste as well as a rental car and fur clothing .

Cro produced the beat for Once Around the World himself. He used a sample of the song Fight the Start by the German indie rock band Kilians from 2007.
Music video
The music video shot by Ramon Rigoni and Stefan Tauber in Lisbon premiered on October 27, 2012 on YouTube . It shows a boy wearing a panda mask and breaking open a piggy bank with the inscription Cro to get its money. He waves a young girl of his age over and the two of them do various activities together. For example, they go shopping and sit together on the beach. They also go skateboard and go on a frenzy to where bumper cars and carousel ride and cotton candy to eat.

Chart successes and awards
Once around the world rose to number 9 in the German single charts in the 47th calendar week of 2012 and occupied the highest position in the 6th calendar week of 2013 with rank 8. Overall, the song stayed in the top 100 for 55 weeks, including three weeks in the top 10. In Austria, the song was the first song by Cro to reach the top of the charts. In Switzerland, Once Around the World came in 27th. The sales of the EP were added together with the individual downloads of the title song. The song Starting Over , which is also included on the EP, was also able to place itself in the German (# 43) and Austrian (# 63) charts for one week due to the high number of downloads . For more than 300,000 copies sold, Once Around the World in Germany received a platinum record .
