history

Until the 19th century

The place is mentioned as "Haselaha" along with other places in a document from the Fulda monastery from the 12th century, in which it is confirmed that Charlemagne donated these places to the monastery around 800. The place originally belonged to a royal estate . The basic word of the place name –aha (for water, brook) indicates that it was founded during this time, because from the 10th century onwards –bach was used instead. In 1136 the place was mentioned in a document in which Bishop Embricho of Würzburg confirmed the separation of the church in “ Ashcebach ” from the parish “Haselaha”. In the Würzburger Lehenbuch , which must have originated in 1323 or 1324, the place is first mentioned as "Burchasela". The place name Burghaslach is derived from the Haslach River , which once flowed past Burghaslach Castle. This can also be seen on the coat of arms.

During the time of the tribal duchies , Burghaslach was in the Duchy of Franconia .

In 1806 Burghaslach came to the Kingdom of Bavaria .

A bard association formed primarily from teachers from Burghaslach and the surrounding area moved from place to place in 1841, for example to Schornweisach , Dachsbach and Birnbaum .

Incorporations

On January 1, 1972, the previously independent communities of Breitenlohe, Fürstenforst, Kirchrimbach, Niederndorf and Oberrimbach and part of the dissolved community of Freihaslach were incorporated. On May 1, 1978 Gleißenberg from the Erlangen-Höchstadt district was added.
