history
The place was first mentioned by name in 1132 as "Erlehe". The former Königshube had separated from the Königshof Riedfeld before 800 . The place name is derived from a field name of the same name. It consists of alder with an appended collective suffix - (e) he and means alder tree. The original place name is documented for the last time in 1169 as "Erlahe". Already in 1136 the place was mentioned as "Erlebach", d. H. with reference to the creek. The form "Markterlbach" has been documented since 1350. In 1911 the municipality name was officially changed from Erlbach to Markt Erlbach.
Discovered Barrow to Erlbach indicate a much earlier settlement. An early church foundation, from which many branch churches started, and the location on Heerstraße between the imperial cities of Nuremberg, Bad Windsheim and Rothenburg ob der Tauber led Markt Erlbach through an eventful history, but were also the prerequisite for the development into a focus for handicrafts, Commerce and Jurisdiction. The first documentary mention goes back to a letter of foundation about the Heilsbronn monastery from 1132. In 1144 there was already talk of a church in Erlbach which, according to tradition , was consecrated in 750 by Burkard , Würzburg's first bishop, and was replaced by a new building before 815 by Abbot Ratger von Fulda , whose sphere of influence Erlbach belonged to. Since 1282 Erlbach was ruled by the burgraves of Nuremberg, who administered it from the seat of the vicarage Neustadt. In 1384 Erlbach was referred to as "oppidum", fortified place, and bore the Hohenzollern coat of arms in the seal (brackish head on the black and white shield). See also the representation in the church window of Kilian's Church from 1380. During the time of the tribal duchies the place was in the Duchy of Franconia .
With the local pastor Hans Röschlein and under the church patronage of (monastery) Heilsbronn, whose prior and later abbot Johann Schopper belonged to the Ansbach visitation committee, the Reformation was carried out in Markt Erlbach. The reformer Caspar Löner , who was born there, is likely to have exercised his influence in the deanery district.
After the devastation of the Thirty Years' War , especially from the autumn of 1631 by marauding mercenaries, numerous Austrian religious expellees settled in Markt Erlbach and the surrounding area and supported the economic recovery.
Towards the end of the 18th century there were 101 properties in Markt Erlbach. The high court exercised the Brandenburg-Bayreuth municipal bailiff's office in Markt Erlbach . The council market Erlbach held the village and community rulership. The Principality of Bayreuth was the landlord of all properties : Stadtvogteiamt Markt Erlbach: 73, Council Markt Erlbach: 10, Kastenamt Markt Erlbach : 4 Kastenamt Neuhof : 14.
Markt Erlbach has belonged to Bavaria since the Paris Treaty of 1810 . As part of the municipal edict , the Markt Erlbach tax district was formed in 1811 , to which Altziegenrück , Blümleinsmühle , Eschenbach , Haidt , Häringsmühle , Kemmathen , Mittelmühle , Siedelbach , Unterulsenbach and Wolfsmühle belonged. In 1813 the municipality of Markt Erlbach was formed, to which Altziegenrück, Blümleinsmühle, Haidt and Kemmathen belonged. It was subordinate to the regional court of Markt Erlbach in administration and jurisdiction and to the Ipsheim Rent Office in the financial administration . With the second community edict (1818), Altziegenrück, Blümleinsmühle, Haidt and Kemmathen were recruited to Eschenbach. From 1862 Markt Erlbach was administered by the Neustadt an der Aisch district office (renamed Neustadt an der Aisch district in 1938 ) and from 1856 by the Markt-Erlbach rent office (1920–1929: Markt-Erlbach tax office , from 1929: Fürth tax office ). The jurisdiction remained with the district court of Markt Erlbach until 1879, from 1880 to 1959 district court of Markt Erlbach , from 1959 district court of Fürth .
The community originally had an area of 7.216 km².
As in Neustadt an der Aisch, a gymnastics club was registered in Markt Erlbach in 1861.
Incorporations
On June 1, 1968, the previously independent communities of Buchen and Kotzenaurach were incorporated. On January 1, 1970 Losaurach and parts of Altselingsbach were added. Eschenbach, Jobstgreuth, Klausaurach, which was renamed by Clausaurach in 1875, Siedelbach and parts of Buchklingen followed on January 1, 1972. Linden was finally added on January 1, 1978.
