Hanns Hubert Hofmann
Hanns Hubert Hofmann (born November 6, 1922 in Nuremberg ; † June 5, 1978 in Würzburg ) was a German historian . He was a professor at the Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg and made a contribution to research on Franconian history.
Life
Hofmann was established in 1922 as the son of General Counsel Hanns Heinz Hofmann, the future chief executive of the Chamber of Commerce born Nuremberg. From 1933 to 1940 he attended the Melanchthon High School in Nuremberg . He then served as a soldier in World War II .
From 1946 to 1948 he studied history, German, geography and law. In 1948 he became a student of Erich Freiherr von Guttenberg at the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Erlangen with a dissertation in Herzogenaurach. The story of a border area in Franconia to the Dr. phil. PhD. Then he was a research assistant at the University of Erlangen. From 1953 to 1965 he was a research assistant at the Commission for Bavarian State History .
In 1961 he completed his habilitation at the Philosophical Faculty at the Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg with the thesis Noble rule and sovereign state . In 1963 he became a lecturer and in 1968 an extraordinary professor for modern, social and national history. His academic students included a. Friedhelm Golücke , Ernst Schubert and Bernhard Sicken .
From 1959 he was head of the "Büdinger Talks" and edited several volumes of the Büdinger Lectures series . In addition, he was responsible - together with u. a. Erich von Guttenberg - for the part of Franconia in the Historical Atlas of Bavaria (HAB) and editor of the Biographical Dictionary on German History in Weltbild-Verlag .
Hofmann was married twice and has two children.

- 1973: Full member of the Academy for Spatial Research and Regional Planning in Hanover
