Bernhard Sicken

Bernhard Sicken (born August 21, 1939 in Hagen ) is a German historian with a focus on regional and military history . At the time he held the only professorship for military history in Germany.

Life

Sicken studied history , geography and social studies at the Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg (with Hanns Hubert Hofmann , among others ), the University of Vienna and the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster. In 1967 he was at the Philosophical Faculty at the University of Würzburg with the dissertation The Defense of the Franconian Reichskreis. Structure and structure of the Dr. phil. PhD. In 1980 he became a professor; In 1983 he received a C3 professorship for modern history and military history at the Department of History at the University of Münster, succeeding Werner Hahlweg . Sicken retired in 2004.

From 1985 to 1987 he was Dean of the Department of History and Philosophy and for several years Vice Dean. From 1988 he was sent to the Philosophical Faculty Day. Sicken is a member of the advisory board and board of trustees of the Institute for Comparative Urban History (IStG) in Münster.
