Paul F. Future
Paul F. Future (* 1955 in North Branford , Connecticut ) is an American admiral. He was the 25th Commandant of the Coast Guard from 2014 to 2018 .
Life
Zukunft signed up to the US Coast Guard in 1973 . He graduated from the United States Coast Guard Academy in 1977 (Bachelor of Science Government), 1988 from Webster University (Master of Arts Management) and 1997 from Naval War College (Master of Arts National Security and Strategic Studies).
Some of his last positions through 2014 were: The Assistant Commandant for Marine Safety, Security and Stewardship; Director of Response Policy, Assistant Commandant for Capability; Commander, Eleventh Coast Guard District; and Director, Joint Interagency Task Force West; Federal Onscene Deepwater Horizon Unified Command and most recently Commander, Coast Guard Pacific Area. On May 30, 2014 he was appointed Commandant of the Coast Guard and thus also an Admiral. He has been retired since 2018.
