Ensembles

Ensemble town center Markt Erlbach

The ensemble includes the closed town center, as it is defined by its former market fortification. In 1282 the fiscal district was given as an imperial fiefdom to the burgraves of Nuremberg , who expanded Markt Erlbach as a court and means of transport. The market right , which was probably granted shortly before, has been documented since 1314 . This can still be experienced today when the resulting market fortification or its former course keeps the historic town center recognizable as a market place. The place, which suffered considerably in almost all wars due to its location on the major military road Nuremberg-Windsheim, developed only slowly. However, the stately country church and Protestant parish church with the old Kilians patronage, with its Gothic components from the end of the 14th century, which are effective in the locality, point to the great historicity of the place. Bavarian since 1810 , it still has the character of a rural, small administrative town. The continuous but winding main street is curved several times in such a way that there is no continuous perspective and also no street market, nevertheless a square-like triangular extension in front of the old town hall is clearly formed at the eastern junction of the ring road, which creates a turning point in this axis. The development is a loose row of houses mostly in gable positions, but also eaves-side buildings with half-hipped or hipped roofs in a late Baroque or Biedermeier habit accentuate the street scene. In addition, the gatehouse in the east and a few half-timbered houses testify to the older preserved substance. In the south, the outskirts can be traced both through the rows of barns that have been preserved and through the areas of former house gardens that have remained free. To the north of the main road, the place is expanded into the small-scale Ringstrasse, making a clear gradation in the structure of the place tangible. In addition, the Kirchgasse extends directly to the remote parish church. Here, modest buildings from the Wilhelminian era and a war memorial complement the historical structure of the place. However, the historical substance of the place has been weakened overall by renovations and new buildings. File number: E-5-75-145-1.

Remarks

  1. This list may not correspond to the current status of the official list of monuments. The latter can be viewed on the Internet as a PDF using the link given under web links and is also mapped in the Bavarian Monument Atlas . Even these representations, although they are updated daily by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation , do not always and everywhere reflect the current status. Therefore, the presence or absence of an object in this list or in the Bavarian Monument Atlas does not guarantee that it is currently a registered monument or not. The Bavarian List of Monuments is also an information directory. The property of a monument - and thus the legal protection - is defined in Art. 1 of the Bavarian Monument Protection Act (BayDSchG) and does not depend on the mapping in the Monument Atlas and the entry in the Bavarian Monument List. Objects that are not listed in the Bavarian Monument List can also be monuments if they meet the criteria according to Art. 1 BayDSchG. Early involvement of the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation according to Art. 6 BayDSchG is therefore necessary in all projects.
