Work description

The book consists of an explanation of the procedure (pp. I – VI), a correction of printing errors (p. VII), an alphabetical list of all places in the Rezatkreis and a systematic part. Both parts have their own page count.

In the first part, all places are listed with consecutive numbers. There is information about the administration ( tax district , judicial district, rent office ), type of place and statistics ( fire places (= residential unit, mostly residential building), families, number of inhabitants). A distinction is made between the following types of places: mill , desert (1–3 houses), hamlet (4–8) and village (8 and more), church village , parish village , market and city . The distinction between wasteland, hamlet and village remains fuzzy, as the size is only an approximate guideline. The statistical information was subsequently entered by hand.

The systematic part consists of three sections. In the first section (pp. 1–54), first the police directorates or commisariates, then the regional courts and finally the ruling courts are listed in alphabetical order. The tax districts included are listed with assignment to the Rent Office, and the associated locations are listed with a summary of the location types and the statistics. Here too, the statistical information was added manually. In the second section (pp. 55–69), the tax offices of the Rezatkreis are listed alphabetically with information on the tax districts they contain and their allocation to the respective administrative units. In the third section (pp. 69–72) there is an alphabetical listing of the administrative units with a summary of the places they contain and statistical information that was also entered manually.

Real history

The topographical and statistical information was always adopted in the address and statistical handbook for the Rezatkreis in the Kingdom of Baiern (1820), in the works Der Retzatkreis des Kingdom of Bavaria (1829) and Topo-geographical-statistical Lexicon of the Kingdom of Bavaria (1831/32) mostly.

Remarks

  1. A mill can also consist of several houses. For example, the gallows mill (p. 28) has 3 fireplaces.
  2. So it can happen that a place with 4 houses is called a wasteland, e.g. B. Kemmathen (p. 47), while a place with 2 houses is called a hamlet, z. B. Ebenhof (p. 20). Something similar can be observed in the demarcation between hamlet and village. An example: Birkenfels (p. 10) is classified as a village with 7 houses, while Winn (p. 104) is classified as a hamlet with 8 houses.
