history

In 1275 a Birchenfels castle was mentioned by name, which belonged to Bruno von Birkenfels . In 1317 the Lords of Birkenfels lost the family castle to the Counts of Hohenlohe , and in 1399 it passed to the Lords of Seckendorff . In 1632 the castle was looted and destroyed by the imperial troops during the Thirty Years' War .

The Heilsbronn Monastery acquired an estate there.

The present-day village of Birkenfels was not created until 1745, when the manorial economic property was broken up into three farms, a small farm, a house, a tavern and a sheep farm. The place was now under the margravial Vogtamt Lehrberg .

Towards the end of the 18th century there were six properties in Birkenfels (Schafhof mit Gütlein, two one-and-a-half courtyards, a courtyard, an empty house , an inn ) and a crushing house belonging to the community. The high court exercised the Brandenburg-Ansbach Hofkastenamt Ansbach . The Brandenburg-Ansbach Vogtamt Birkenfels held the village and community rulership and land lordship over all properties .

From 1797 to 1808 the place was under the judiciary and chamber office of Ansbach . In 1799 the place was described as follows: “Hamlet with the beautiful ruins of a Hohenlohe and Seckendorf castle, in the Ansbach Chamber of Commerce, two hours from residence. It was bought by Appel von Seckendorf. The residents parish to Flachslanden. "

As part of the municipal edict, Birkenfels was assigned to the Brünst tax district, which was formed in 1808 . It also belonged to the rural community of Brünst, founded in 1811 . In 1836 Birkenfels was reassigned to Kettenhöfstetten . In the course of the regional reform , the municipality of Kettenhöfstetten was incorporated into Flachslanden on January 1, 1972.
