World Dressage Masters 2011/2012

The 2011/2012 rider ranking season of the World Dressage Masters was the third season of the World Dressage Masters (WDM) with an overall ranking.

Course of the tournament series

The rider rankings for the 2011/2012 World Dressage Masters season were determined in the period from July 7, 2011 to May 20, 2012. It was a series of international dressage tournaments at CDI 5 * level.

The tournaments in the series were mostly held in Europe, with the exception of the tournament in Palm Beach County in the United States. The series' main sponsors were the Axel Johnson Group, Exquis, Moorland Stables, Moorland Investments and Nürnberger Versicherung . The last one was also the name sponsor of the rider rankings ( Nuremberg WDM Rider Ranking 2011-2012 season ).

Eurosport has been the media partner of the World Dressage Masters since the beginning of 2011. About half an hour recordings of the freestyle are shown in the Wednesday evening program.

Overall rating

The overall ranking, which was endowed with € 25,000 - for the winner - was calculated based on the world ranking list points awarded during the World Dressage Masters tournaments. The world ranking points awarded in the Grand Prix, Grand Prix Spécial and Grand Prix Freestyle are multiplied by a factor of 1.5 and are included in the overall ranking. In the final, a factor of 3.0 is used. The three best results per rider are included in the overall ranking.

The exams

1st test: Falsterbo

The first tournament in the context of the World Dressage Masters rider ranking season 2011/2012 is the Falsterbo Horse Show in Skanör med Falsterbo in Sweden. This tournament, which also includes a competition for the Nations Cup for show jumping , took place from July 7th to 10th, 2011.

2nd test: Hickstead

The tournament "Dressage at Hickstead", the second tournament in the tournament series, took place from July 28th to 31st, 2011 in Hickstead. The tournament is always held at the same time as the British Show Jumping Nations Cup, the Royal International Horse Show , in Hickstead .

3rd exam: Palm Beach

The first stage of the World Dressage Masters in 2012 will be held as part of the "Wellington Classic Dressage" in Palm Beach , Florida . The WDM tournament will take place from January 26th to 29th, 2012. The Wellington Classic Dressage tournaments are held at the Jim Brandon Equestrian Center in Palm Beach County .

Before the tournament there were cancellations of participants, so the duel between Totilas , Valegro and Ravel advertised by the organizer did not take place because the start of the tournament was canceled. In return, Carl Hester received a wildcard for the start of the tournament with the horse Wie-Atlantico, which he rode only temporarily . But since this pair is not qualified for a CDI 5 *, the tournament will only be held as a CDI 4 * for a short time.

The end of the tournament series traditionally takes place in the home country of the name sponsor of the equestrian ranking at the "Horse International" tournament in Munich- Riem. The tournament takes place annually on the Ascension weekend, 2012 from May 17th to May 20th.
