The Nuremberg (proper spelling: NÜRNBERGER ) is a German insurance company based in Nuremberg . The group is active in the areas of life , private health , property , accident and car insurance as well as in the financial services sector, mainly in Germany and Austria.

The parent company of the Group, Nuremberg Beteiligungs-Aktiengesellschaft is listed and lists in the OTC segment Scale (formerly Entry Standard ).

The roots of today's insurance group lie in the Nuremberg life insurance bank founded on February 16, 1884 by Lothar Freiherr von Faber , Friedrich von Grundherr, Johannes Falk, Johan Georg Kugler, Moritz Poehlmann, Samuel Bloch and Karl Wunder . On September 28 of the same year, the Royal Bavarian State Ministry of the Interior granted approval for business operations; in December 1884 the first life insurance certificate was issued.

Company history

The Nuremberg Life Insurance Bank was founded in 1884. In 1885 it launched the first private accident insurance spolice in Bavaria. In 1906 the Nürnberger received approval to take up liability insurance . As a recognized self-help institution for the public service , it set up the civil servant pension grant insurance in 1908.

In 1952 the company founded the subsidiary for the non-life insurance sector, Nürnberger Allgemeine Versicherungs-AG, and six years later (1958) created the slogan "Protection and security under the sign of the castle". The Nürnberger launched the product unit-linked life insurance in 1971. In 1981 she founded Nürnberger Versicherung AG Austria in Salzburg. Garanta Versicherungs-AG has been offering special products as a professional insurer for the motor vehicle trade, its companies, their employees and customers since 1985. The logo has represented the silhouette of the Nuremberg Imperial Castle since 1928. As a result of this and the motto "Protection and security under the sign of the castle", which has been known since 1958, the company has found an unmistakable trademark. In December 2016, the Nuremberg company renewed its brand identity by stylizing the logo and sharpening its slogan ("Protection and security. Since 1884."). The headquarters of the group can still be found in the city, and in 2000 it moved to a new general directorate. Sponsorship

In 2005 she initiated the International Gluck Opera Festival at the Nuremberg State Opera , which has taken place every two years since 2008 and of which she was the main sponsor until 2019. With the 2019/2020 season she became a premium partner of the State Theater Nuremberg . It sponsors the Blue Night cultural event in Nuremberg and co-financed the Jean-Paul hiking trail . Nürnberger Versicherung AG Austria

Nürnberger Versicherung AG Austria, founded in 1981, offers provision and insurance products in the areas of life, accident, risk and occupational disability as well as company pension schemes. In the 2018 financial year, the company employed 125 people across Austria, 105 of them in the office. The premium charged was achieved with life insurance and reached EUR 106.6 million. At the end of 2018, there were approx. 114,000 life insurance contracts.

The general management of Nuremberg Austria is located in Salzburg . There is also the seat of the Nuremberg Academy, a training and further education facility for sales partners and their employees. Nürnberger Versicherung sells its products exclusively through independent commercial partners such as insurance brokers, insurance agents and financial service providers.

As a sponsor, the Nuremberg-based company primarily supports scientific and cultural institutions such as the Christoph-Willibald-Gluck Research Center at the Paris-Lodron University in Salzburg .
