Peter Koch (lawyer)

Peter Koch (born March 13, 1935 in Erfurt ; † August 13, 2015 in Aachen ) was a German insurance lawyer, non-fiction author and manager. He was chairman of the board of the Aachener und Münchener Versicherungsgesellschaft AG and taught in Hamburg and Aachen.

Life

Koch studied law and political science at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . He passed the first and second state law examinations and received his doctorate in 1960. From 1953 to 1961 he worked for Allianz Versicherungs-AG in Munich , was a court assessor at the Nuremberg-Fürth regional court and became a research assistant at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg . In 1969 he went to the Aachen and Munich insurance group. He was a board member of Central Krankenversicherung and from 1980 to 1983 chairman of the board of Aachener Rückversicherungs-Gesellschaft AG.

After a substitute professor in Hamburg in 1969, he taught civil, commercial and corporate law and insurance business at RWTH Aachen University from 1970 . There he was appointed honorary professor in 1979 .

Koch published numerous works on the insurance industry and was considered a historian of the industry. Active as a journalist until shortly before his death, he died in Aachen at the age of 80.
