criticism

After her victory with the Dutch team at the CHIO in Aachen in 2005, van Grunsven was attacked in German specialist media because of her training methods, which were criticized as so-called "Rollkur" (hyperflexion).

At the end of August 2010, she found herself in the press again due to a lawsuit. The equestrian portal eurodressage.com published an article in February 2010 about a meeting of the FEI on the subject of hyperflexion. The article had a picture showing the head and neck of Anky van Grunsvens Salinero in an extremely tight, rolled-up position, the subtitle was Horse in the rollkur, hyperflexed position . Van Grunsven sued for the picture to be removed, as the publication would damage her. The editor-in-chief of the Internet portal described the lawsuit as an attack on freedom of the press. In a press release, she also quoted personally injurious e-mails that were said to have come from van Grunsven's husband, Sjef Janssen. At the beginning of September 2010, van Grunsven withdrew the lawsuit.
