The Hanoverian gelding Gigolo FRH , usually short Gigolo , (* 1983 ; † 23 September 2009 ) was a successful horse in modern tournament history. Under Isabell Werth he won one Olympic gold and two Olympic silver medals in the individual dressage competition, was world champion twice and European and German champion four times. Like all of Isabell Werth's top horses in Hanover, he was supported by the Hanoverian Friends' Association (FRH) .

The Hanoverian chestnut, bred by Horst Klussmann in 1983, was bought in 1989 by Uwe Schulten-Baumer , who made it available to his pupil Isabell Werth . As early as 1991, the two were able to start an unprecedented winning streak. The first international victory was winning the European Championship in Donaueschingen both individually and with the team, a success that could be repeated at the following three European Championships in 1993, 1995 and 1997. In addition, the two were able to win the German championship in 1991. In the following year, the German championship was successfully defended and after the first participation in the Olympics , the silver medal in the individual and the gold medal with the team were recorded. The double success - winning individual and team gold - was repeated at the World Equestrian Games in 1994 and 1998. The 1996 Olympic Games held in Atlanta saw the two also as winners in individual and team competitions. After the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000, at which the two were able to repeat the success of 1992 with the silver medal in singles and gold with the team, Gigolo was retired from sport on October 24 at the age of seventeen at the Stuttgart German Masters . Gigolo spent his “retirement” from 2002 with Isabell Werth after he had been employed by Uwe Schulten-Baumer. On September 23, 2009, after his health deteriorated rapidly from an injury, he was put to sleep at the age of 26.

With four Olympic gold and two silver medals, four world championship titles, eight European championships and four German championships, Gigolo is the most successful horse in modern tournament history not only in dressage, but in equestrian sports as a whole.
