Margit Otto-Crépin

Margit Otto-Crépin (born February 9, 1945 in Saarbrücken , † April 19, 2020 in Hamburg , Germany ) was a Franco- German dressage rider .

Margit Otto-Crépin rode since she was eight. In 1962 she left Saarland and graduated from school as part of a student exchange in the United States. Otto-Crépin then went to Paris . Here she initially wanted to study, but then started working in boutiques. There she met her future husband, the amateur jumping rider Daniel Crépin. In 1971 she became a French citizen through marriage. Margit Otto-Crépin ran several fashion boutiques in France.

Above her husband she found her way back to equestrian sport. She stabled her horses in Germany, where she was trained by Fritz Tempelmann and Uwe Schulten-Baumer , among others .

In 1974 she played a major international tournament for the first time. From 1981 she took part in six European championships in a row, and she also took part in world championships and the Olympic Games.

She achieved her greatest successes with the Holsteiner Corlandus . With him she became the first French woman to become European champion, won individual Olympic silver and secured victory at the World Cup finals . Otto-Crépin was a member of various specialist bodies in dressage sport; from 1998 to 2010 she was President of the International Dressage Rider's Club (IDRC). Her successor in this office was Kyra Kyrklund .

Margit Otto-Crépin took her last international dressage test in 2003.

Although she still had her main residence in Paris, Otto-Crépin lived in Hamburg from 2005 . He died there on April 19, 2020 at the age of 75.

  • 1989, Bad Mondorf: with Corlandus silver medal in the individual ranking
  • 1991, Donaueschingen: with Corlandus bronze medal in the individual ranking (Grand Prix Spécial) and 6th place with the team
  • 1995, Bad Mondorf: Bronze medal with the team with Lucky Lord
  • 1997, Verden: 10th place in the individual ranking with Lucky Lord and 6th place with the team
  • 2001, Verden: with Tornado 32nd place in the individual ranking and 9th place with the team
