Richard Davison (born September 20, 1955 in Nottingham ) is a British dressage rider and Olympic participant .

Athletic career

Davison got his first pony at the age of nine . After school he worked briefly in his father's PR agency before deciding to take up equestrianism. At that time still interested in hunting riding , eventing rider Sandra Pearson-Adams sent him to a dressage course with Barbara Slane-Fleming, where he discovered his enthusiasm for dressage riding . Lady Bamford then bought him the horse Master JCB , with which he won team silver at the European Championships in 1993. A decade later, he won team bronze at the European Championships in Hickstead . Davison has ridden in four Olympic Games so far, most recently in the 2012 London Games.

    • 2000, Sydney : 8th place with Askari with the team and 35th place in the individual ranking

    • 2003, Hickstead: 3rd place with the team and 14th place in the individual ranking with Ballaseyr Royale

activities

Davison is a partner with the British Horse Society and a regular Horse & Hound columnist. He is also a member of the FEI Dressage Committee and Vice President of the international dressage rider club. He trains with Conrad Schumacher .

Private

Davison is married to the dressage rider Gillian. The couple has two sons: Thomas and Joseph , who are both successful in jumping saddles.
