Boxau (colloquially: "Boksāb") is a district of the Flachslanden market in the Ansbach district in Middle Franconia .

geography

The Virnsberger Bach flows through the village, a right tributary of the Kemmathbach, which flows into the Zenn on the right . The place forms a closed settlement with the south-west Virnsberg. The district road AN 21 leads via Virnsberg to state road 2245 (0.5 km south) or to Sondernohe (1.6 km north).

history

In a deed of gift, with the burgrave Friedrich III. von Nürnberg left possessions to the Teutonic Order of Virnsberg , the village was first mentioned by name in 1294 as "Bockaw". The place name means to the floodplain, which is sought by the goats .

At the end of the 18th century, Boxau belonged to the Virnsberg community. There were seven properties in Boxau (3 courtyards, 1 half courtyard, 1 quarter courtyard, 1 sixth courtyard, 1 drip house ). The high court exercised the Obervogteiamt Virnsberg of the Teutonic Order. The Teutonic Order Coming Virnsberg held the village and community rulership and the lordship over all properties .

With the community edict, Boxau was assigned to the Virnsberg tax district, which was formed in 1808 . It also belonged to the rural community of Virnsberg, founded in 1811 . On May 1, 1978 this was incorporated into the Flachslanden market as part of the regional reform .
