The Nuremberg State Archive is the Bavarian State Archive responsible for the Central Franconia administrative region .

The holdings of the State Archives at Archivstrasse 17 in Nuremberg include:
- Former imperial territories in what is now the Middle Franconia administrative region as well as the Eichstätt monastery belonging to the former Franconian Empire . Most important holdings or groups of holdings: Imperial City of Nuremberg , Margraviate Brandenburg-Ansbach , Prince-owned Grafschaft Schwarzenberg , Bishopric and Cathedral Chapter Eichstätt , Coming or Offices of the Teutonic Order , parts of the archives of the Imperial Cities Rothenburg ob der Tauber , Weißenburg in Bavaria and Bad Windsheim , Franconian Imperial Knighthood , Lordship and aristocratic archives (e.g. Pappenheim , Crailsheim , Wrede ).
- State central and sub-authorities as well as courts in the administrative region of Central Franconia from the beginning of the 19th century.
- Records of the Nuremberg war crimes trials .
The volume is around 35,000 running meters with around seven million archive units.

Archive building
In 1880 the building of the Nuremberg State Archives was erected as the "first Bavarian archive building". It has a large hall on the first floor that is used for exhibitions and lectures.
