Unterweid ( Rhöner Platt : Öngerwied) is a district of the town of Kaltennordheim in the Schmalkalden-Meiningen district in Thuringia .
Geographical location
Unterweid is a village in the Thuringian Rhön on the Hessian-Thuringian border. It is on the state road 1124 with connection to the federal road 276 to Hilders and lies in the Weidtal . Neighboring towns are Oberweid in the south, the district of Kaltenwestheim in the east and Tann in the northwest and Hilders in the southwest.
history
The village was first mentioned in a document on June 9, 795 (Marburg archive). The place belonged to the office of Kaltennordheim of the county of Henneberg , later to Saxony-Weimar-Eisenach ( Eisenacher Oberland ).
Unterweid was persecuted by witches in 1624 : Margaretha Kleinpeter got into a witch trial and was burned.
On January 1, 2019, Unterweid was incorporated into the city of Kaltennordheim together with six other locations of the Hohe Rhön administrative community .
politics
The community council from Unterweid finally consisted of six councilors and councilors. The honorary mayor, Christel Bittorf-Rasch, was elected on June 27, 2004 and remained in office until the town was incorporated into Kaltennordheim. Since January 1, 2019, she has been the local mayor .
