Mitteldorf is a district of the city of Kaltennordheim in the district of Schmalkalden-Meiningen in Thuringia .
location
The village is located on state road 1124 immediately east of Kaltenwestheim and west of Kaltensundheim in the valley of the Lotte (a tributary of the Felda ), surrounded by wooded peaks of the Rhön .
history
The village was first mentioned in a document on December 1, 778. The place belonged to the office of Kaltennordheim of the county of Henneberg , later to Saxony-Weimar-Eisenach ( Eisenacher Oberland ). From 1920, Mitteldorf belonged to the Free State of Thuringia , from 1952 to the Meiningen district in the GDR district of Suhl . In 1974 Mitteldorf was incorporated into Kaltenwestheim . In 2015 there were 293 inhabitants.
As part of the incorporation of the municipality of Kaltenwestheim into the city of Kaltennordheim on January 1, 2019, the place became an independent district of Kaltennordheim.
