Approx. The Mettlachbach, a right tributary of the Bibert, rises 0.5 km west of the church village . Immediately south of the village, the Wegfeldgraben flows into the Mettlachbach as a right tributary. Municipal roads lead to Schmalnbühl (1.3 km northeast) and to Rosenberg to state road 2255 (5.5 km east). A service road leads to Lockenmühle (1.7 km southeast).

history

The place was first mentioned in 1169 as "Niwenstat". The place name with the meaning to the new home indicates that it is probably a branch settlement, although it remains unclear from which place Neustetten was founded. Because the nearby Moratneustetten was often simply referred to as Neustetten, the name "Oberneustetten" had also become naturalized for a better differentiation.

In 1333 the Heilsbronn Monastery acquired two goods there by exchange, and in 1347 a meadow by donation. In total, the monastery acquired twelve properties there, nine of which were deserted during the Thirty Years War and could not be brought back to the man until 1688.

Neustetten was subject to the Teutonic Order until its dissolution in 1806 with the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss . The high altar in the St. Jacob's Church built in the 16th century, the eastern baroque portal of the cemetery and the former tithe barn, which was later used as a school, testify to the rule. This is the reason why the inhabitants have remained predominantly Catholic even after the Reformation to this day.

At the end of the 18th century there were 28 properties in Neustetten. The high court exercised the Obervogteiamt Virnsberg of the Teutonic Order . The village and community rulership was held by the Teutonic Order Coming Virnsberg . The landlords were the Deutschordenskommende Nürnberg (15 properties: 2 courtyards, 8 estates, 2 drip houses , 2 houses, 1 community pastor's house) and the Deutschordenskommende Virnsberg (13 properties: 1 courtyard, 9 estates, 2 drip houses, 1 mill ).

In 1806 Neustetten came to the Kingdom of Bavaria . As part of the municipal edict, Neustetten was assigned to the Virnsberg tax district, which was formed in 1808 . It also belonged to the rural community of Virnsberg, founded in 1811 . On June 12, 1824 the formation of the rural community Neustetten was approved, to which the places Berglein , Dörflein , Hainklingen , Lockenmühle and Schmalnbühl belonged. The municipality was under the administration and jurisdiction of the district court of Ansbach and the financial administration of the Ansbach Rent Office ( renamed the Ansbach Tax Office in 1920 ).

In 1844 Berglein and Dörflein applied to form their own community. However, this was rejected because both places did not reach the minimum number of 20 families. From 1862 on, Neustetten was administered by the Ansbach district office (renamed the Ansbach district in 1938 ). The jurisdiction remained with the district court of Ansbach until 1870, 1870-1879 city and district court Ansbach , since 1880 district court Ansbach . On August 30, 1923, the redevelopment of Berglein and Dörflein to Mitteldachstetten was approved. This reduced the area of the municipality from 7.964 km² to 5.102 km². In the course of the regional reform , the municipality of Neustetten was incorporated into Flachslanden on January 1, 1972.
