environment
fauna
Because of the large occurrence of the green wedge damsel and the traditional pond management , the Bibert with its floodplain and the Haselbach with its floodplain between Bruckberg and the confluence with the Bibert near Münchzell were declared an FFH area between Dietenhofen and Großhabersdorf . In the 222 hectare protected area you can also find the dark blue ant , the yellow-bellied toad and the small brook mussel .
There are a large number of different types of fish in the water:
grayling , barbel , trout ( rainbow trout and brown trout ), char , pike , pikeperch , carp , tench , eel , rods , noses , heads , gobies and white fish .
flora
The extensively used hay meadows , the alluvial forests of various forms and the moist tall herbaceous vegetation and forest fringes led to inclusion in the list of FFH areas .
Water quality
The Bibert has water quality class II-III in its upper reaches and improves in its lower reaches in the Fürth district to quality class II. At the measuring point of the mouth of the Bibert, the river is so heavily contaminated with the herbicide Mecoprop that the quality goals of the Water Framework Directive are exceeded.
Sights and buildings
The Bibertgrund is a local recreation and excursion area. Places of interest are, for example, the Playmobil FunPark in Leichendorf, the campsite in Leichendorfermühle, the Ammerndorfer Mühle, the Gasthof Rotes Ross in Großhabersdorf, the inn "Zur Klosterkapelle" ("Kappel") in the Dietenhofen district of Münchzell , the ruins of the moated castle Leonrod at Leonrod .
The Bibert gave the Bibertbahn its name, it operated between the Stein and Großhabersdorf stations until 1986, and until 1971 to Unternbibert-Rügland. Today a popular cycle path runs along the route of the Bibertbahn. The Rothenburger Straße runs through the Bibert Valley to Großhabersdorf .
