Rangau

As Rangau is landscape between the Greater Nuremberg and the Franconian Heights in Middle Franconia referred. It encompasses the Fürth district , the southeastern part of the Neustadt / Aisch-Bad Windsheim district and parts of the Ansbach district . Sometimes the western district of Roth up to the Altmühl is also counted as southern Rangau to Rangau.

The term is mainly used in tourism . It was promoted since the 1930s, especially by the later district home nurse Valentin Fürstenhöfer.

The Rangaubahn is a railway line between Fürth and Cadolzburg .

origin of the name

Originally, the Rangau was one of the Franconian early medieval districts and later formed roughly the Margraviate of Ansbach . The name "Rangau" is derived from the Rannach brook (Rannachgau) which flows into the Aisch near Bad Windsheim .
