history
The place was first mentioned in 1288 as "ze Obernaspach". The place name is derived from the water body name Asbach, whose defining word is "aspe" (= aspen ).
In the Middle Ages, Oberasbach was in the Duchy of Franconia during the time of the tribal duchies . From 1500 the city belonged to the Franconian Empire .
At the end of the 18th century there were 22 properties in Oberasbach. The high court and the village and community rulership exercised the Brandenburg-Ansbach judge office Roßtal . The landlords were the Heilsbronn monastery administration office (1 Gütlein), the church in Zirndorf (1 courtyard), the Kaplanei Zirndorf (1 smithy), the Oberasbach Foundation (1 house), the Imperial City of Nuremberg : Spitalamt (2 courtyards, 2 half courtyards, 1 Gütlein), Landesalmosenamt (3 courtyards, 1 Gütlein), the Teutonic Order of Nuremberg (1 estate) and Nuremberg owners: von Fürer (1 yard), von Grundherr (2 half yards), von Haller (1 yard), von Scheurl (1 yard), von Tucher (2 courtyards) and von Zeltner (1 courtyard). In 1802 there were 19 properties in the village, 4 of which were Ansbach and 15 were foreign.
As part of the municipal edict, the Oberasbach tax district was formed in 1808 , to which the places Altenberg , Kreutles , Neumühle and Unterasbach belonged. In the same year the rural community Oberasbach was founded, which was congruent with the tax district. In administration and jurisdiction, it was subordinate to the Regional Court of Nuremberg and in the financial administration to the Fürth Rent Office ( renamed the Fürth Tax Office in 1920 ). 2 properties were subject to voluntary jurisdiction until 1812 and from 1822 to 1835 to the Patrimonial Court Lohe and Behringersdorf , 1 property from 1823 to 1837 to the Patrimonial Court Boxdorf and 1 property from 1822 to 1836 to the Patrimonial Court Haimendorf . From 1862 Oberasbach was administered by the Fürth district office (renamed the Fürth district in 1938 ). In 1862 jurisdiction was transferred to the Fürth District Court , and since 1880 it has been with the Fürth District Court . In 1961 the municipality had an area of 10,489 km².
Incorporations
On January 1, 1976, Rehdorf was incorporated into the dissolved community of Leichendorf, which then had around 150 inhabitants.
On April 30, 1994, the city was raised.

Attractions
The Church of St. Lorenz is a simple slurry hall building with a three-sided choir (first half of the 15th century) and a square bell tower above the east end of the nave. The polygon corners of the choir are studded with buttresses and slim tracery windows open up the wall surfaces with a coffin cornice.
