Gustav-Adolf-Straße underground station
The underground station Gustav-Adolf-Straße (abbreviation: GA ) is the 43rd underground station of the Nuremberg underground and was opened on June 14, 2008. Until the opening of the following construction phase, it is the terminus of the U3 line and 607 m from the Sündersbühl underground station . In the direction of the Nordwestring there is a double track change. Gustav-Adolf-Straße is named after the Swedish king Gustav Adolf II and is part of the Middle Ring . It is used by around 12,100 passengers every day.
location
The station is located in the Nuremberg district Sündersbühl and extends underground in east-west direction under the Wallensteinstraße between Konstanzen- and Dunant road. Exits from the two platform heads lead to a distribution floor and from there to the south and north side of Wallensteinstrasse. There is also an elevator from the platform level on the western side of Von-der-Tann-Straße. At the eastern staircase there is a bus station on the area of the former tram turning loop .
Building and architecture
The station structure is 186 m long, approx. 14 m wide and 7 m deep (one and a half times the depth). The construction work for the station began in 2003 and was carried out using the open construction method with Berlin shoring . In order not to impair road traffic too much during the construction period, Wallensteinstrasse was led south around the excavation between Konstanzenstrasse and Dunantstrasse and connected to the Westring by a new intersection. The traffic on the Westring itself was carried over the excavation pit with auxiliary bridges.
The design of the station was entrusted to the architects KJS +. The two side walls of the platform are illuminated by fluorescent tubes attached to the side of the light strips in the national colors of Sweden (blue and yellow). In the western distribution level there are replicas of the portraits of Gustav Adolf and Wallenstein created by the painter Anthonis van Dyck . In the eastern distribution level there is a replica of the painting Friedensmahl by Joachim von Sandrart . The stairways are decorated with mosaics.
