The construction work for this began on June 1, 1992 and was carried out in the open construction method with Berlin shoring . The road traffic on Äußere Bayreuther Straße was led over an auxiliary bridge over the excavation pit during the construction period. For commuters from the catchment area of Bundesstraße 2 , a park-and-ride car park with 500 spaces was built south of the station.
