The Sündersbühl underground station (abbreviation: SB ) is the 42nd  underground station of the Nuremberg underground and was opened on June 14, 2008. It is served by the U3 line and is 607 meters from Gustav-Adolf-Straße underground station and 929 meters from Rothenburger Straße underground station . In earlier plans, the station was to be called Bertha-von-Suttner-Straße . The underground station is named after the Nuremberg district of Sündersbühl , which was incorporated in 1898 and in which it is located. It is used by around 7,800 passengers every day.

location

The station is located in the Nuremberg district Sündersbühl and is located underground in northeast-southwest orientation under the Rothenburgerstraße between Bertha-von-Suttner- and Blücherstraße. The exits at both platform heads lead directly to the road surface. There is also a staircase with an elevator on Bertha-von-Suttner-Straße .

Building and architecture

The station structure is 222 m long, 15 m wide and 7.6 m deep (simple depth). The construction work for the station began in 2003 and was carried out using the open construction method with Berlin shoring .

The architectural design was entrusted to the architects' office hannewald + strobl, who implemented the concept of an “open light space”. The platform ceiling is broken through by the elevator shaft and seven skylights. The wall surfaces of the skylights are painted red, pink, orange, yellow, orange, pink and red and slope from the center of the platform towards the exits at an increasingly steep angle. On the platform walls, at a distance from the skylights, there are backlit color panels with LEDs that change their color in a predetermined rhythm.
