The Maffeiplatz underground station (abbreviation: MP ) is the 10th  underground station of the Nuremberg underground and was opened on September 23, 1975. It is 630 m from Aufseßplatz underground station and 673 m from Frankenstrasse underground station and is served by the U1 line. Maffeiplatz is named after the large Bavarian industrialist Joseph Anton von Maffei (1790–1870), to whom the Kraus Maffei works go back, among other things . It is used by around 13,900 passengers every day.

location

The station is located in the Lichtenhof district of Nuremberg and extends underground in a north-south direction under Pillenreuther Strasse between Maffei and Ritter-von-Schuh-Platz in the north and Siemensstrasse and Zwinglistrasse in the south. From the northern head of the platform, a staircase leads to a distribution floor under the intersection of Pillenreuther Straße and from there via ramps to Maffei and Ritter-von-Schuh-Platz as well as stairs to the east and west side of Pillenreuther Straße. From the southern head a staircase leads to a distribution floor under Pillenreuther Strasse and from there via ramps to Siemensstrasse and Zwinglistrasse. An elevator leads from the south end of the station to the surface.

Building and architecture

The construction work for the 200 m long station building began in 1972 and was carried out in the open construction method with Berlin shoring . The elevator was upgraded in 1983.

The color of the subway station is green . The platform walls, tiled with ceramic tiles, are green from the floor to the level of the platform edge, then white with an interruption by the band with the platform name (white writing on a green background) and then green again up to the ceiling. The round supporting columns are also tiled in green.

The station is served by the U1 underground line . On weekends and before public holidays, it is also served by the N5 night bus.
