Röthenbach underground station
The Röthenbach underground station (abbreviation: RB ) was opened as the 28th underground station on the Nuremberg underground on September 27, 1986. It is the terminus for line U2 and 1317 m from Hohe Marter underground station . The underground station is named after the Nuremberg district of Röthenbach , which was incorporated in 1922 and in which it is located. It is used by around 26,400 passengers every day.
Location and infrastructure
The station is located underground in the Röthenbach district of Nuremberg in an east-west direction north of Ansbacher Strasse between Dombühlerstrasse and Jochsberger Strasse. From the eastern head of the platform, a staircase leads to a distribution floor and from there to all corners of the Ansbacher / Dombühler / Röthenbacher Hauptstraße intersection and to the bus station. The western station entrance leads as a ramp to a distribution floor and from there to the north and south side of Ansbacher Strasse. An elevator connects the surface with the eastern distribution level and the platform level. In the direction of the airport, there is a pointed platform change next to the station and a 210-meter-long parking and sweeping system on the west side .
The Main-Danube Canal and the Röthenbacher shopping center are in the vicinity of the station .
Building and architecture
The station structure is 258 m long, 16 m wide and 11 m deep (one and a half times the depth). Construction work began on July 5, 1983 and was carried out using the cut-and-cover method.
Architectural features are the column-free design of the station, the installation of ten skylights in the station ceiling and the lining of the platform walls with structured ceramic plates.

The station is served by the U2 underground line. On the surface there is a bus station where city buses 35, 61 to 67, 69, 91 and 98, as well as private bus line 713 stop. The N7 night bus also runs on weekends and before public holidays .
