The metro station Stadtbegrenzer (abbreviation: SG ) is the 21st  station on the Nuremberg metro . It is 825 meters from Jakobinenstraße underground station and 953 meters from Muggenhof underground station . In the direction of Fürth, there is a pointed platform change next to the station. The underground station was named after the former tram stop. It is used by around 11,500 passengers every day.

history

The station was built together with the elevated railway in Fürther Straße between September 6, 1967 and autumn 1970. On November 4, 1970, the station was first opened to the tram and served by it until June 20, 1981. This was followed by the roughly one-year renovation phase to bring the structure and the stations up to underground standards, including bringing the platforms 1 m above the top of the rails and retrofitting elevators. On March 20, 1982, the station was reopened for the underground. In the summer of 2000, the elevated railway was renovated and the station was given a new look.

location

The station is located in the Stadtpark district of Fürth , south-west of the intersection of Fürther- / Nürnberger- / Höfener and Ludwig-Quellen-Straße and north of the Nuremberg – Bamberg railway line . From the platform east head exits lead to Höfener Strasse, in the center of the station there is another exit with two elevators on each side platform that lead to Nürnberger Strasse.

Building and architecture

The station structure is located on a dam 6 m above the road surface, is 90 m long, 14.5 m wide and 7.5 m high.

The station boundary consists of a frosted glass wall, in front of which there is a row of pillars. The zigzag-shaped folding concrete roof rests on six V-shaped beams. Since the renovation, the roof and columns have been painted in gray and the pillars in blue . The station has side platforms.

Locomotive shed in Fürth, southwest of the underground station

Immediately at the underground station (south-west) is the locomotive shed in Fürth , probably the oldest preserved locomotive shed in Germany. The locomotive shed can be seen on the left-hand side in the direction of travel when you exit the station (in the direction of Jakobinenstraße underground station). The listed building, which is important for industrial history, is threatened with decay and is in extremely poor condition due to the lack of any maintenance measures.
