Messe underground station
The subway station Messe (abbreviation: ME ) is the sixth subway station of the Nuremberg subway and was opened on March 1, 1972. It is 506 meters from the Bauernfeindstraße underground station and 709 meters from the Langwasser Nord underground station . A parking and sweeping system connects to the station in the direction of Langwasser. Until 1974 the station was called Neuselsbrunn and until the timetable change in 1999/2000 the exhibition center . The underground station is named after the exhibition halls of the Nuremberg trade fair . It is used by around 13,400 passengers every day.
location
The station is located above ground in the Nuremberg district of Neuselsbrunn in the middle of Otto-Bärnreuther-Straße. Both steps lead to a pedestrian walkway that leads from the entrance of the exhibition center to Neuselsbrunn. The elevator also leads from the platform to the pedestrian walkway.
The Nuremberg Exhibition Center is in the immediate vicinity of the train station .
Building and architecture
Construction work on the 90 m long station building began in 1967. In 1982, a passenger elevator and another staircase to the west were retrofitted.
Between December 1999 and February 2000, the station, built in the style of the 1960s with exposed concrete , was renovated. A toilet system and sheltered seating for passengers have been retrofitted . The stairway to the pedestrian walkway is painted gray, as are the roof supports, the ceiling and the outer walls of the stairway are painted pastel blue. In addition, white panels and graphics are attached to the outer walls.

The station is served by the U1 underground line . On weekends and before public holidays, the night bus lines N4 and N15 also run from the nearby bus stop Neuselsbrunn .
