Fürth Hauptbahnhof underground station
The Fürth Hauptbahnhof underground station (abbreviation: FH ) was opened on December 7, 1985 as the 26th underground station on the Nuremberg Underground . It is 889 meters from Fürth Rathaus Underground Station and 700 meters from Jakobinenstraße Underground Station. Until December 5, 1998 it was the terminus for the U1 line . It is used by around 35,300 passengers every day.
Location and infrastructure
The station is located in the inner city district of Fürth and extends underground in an east-west orientation in a slight right curve under the station square between the confluence of Gebhardtstrasse and Gustav-Schickedanz-Strasse. From the eastern head of the station, an exit leads to a distribution floor under Gebhardtstrasse and from there to the north and south of the street. From the western head of the station, an exit leads to a distribution floor under the station square and from there with four exits to the station square, to Gustav-Schickedanz-Strasse and as a connection to the platform underpass of the main station to Südstadt. An elevator connects the platform level with the western distribution floor and the station square. In the direction of Langwasser, the station is followed by a parking and sweeping system as well as a platform change that can be used at a point.
In the vicinity of the station is the Fürth main station , the Comödie Fürth , the Fürther Freiheit and the city park .
Building and architecture
The station structure is 172 m long and was carried out in an open construction with Berlin shoring .
The platform hall is pillarless. The platform walls are clad with Cadolzburg sandstone and are interrupted by isosceles trapezoids in continuation of the ceiling. The building director Theo Kief from the building authority in Nuremberg was responsible for the design.

The station is served by the U1 line. On the surface there is a bus station with the possibility to change to the Nuremberg city bus routes 33 , 37 , 39 and 67 , the Fürth city bus routes 172 to 174 , 177 to 179 , the OVF lines 111 , 112 , 125 and 126 as well as the bus route 152 of the Steinmetz transport company . The night bus routes N9 , N18 and N21 also operate on weekends . The regional train lines R1 , R11 , R12 and R2 as well as the S-Bahn line S1 depart from the main station .
