location

The station is located on the western edge of Fürth's old town and extends underground in an east-west orientation in a slight left curve under Würzburger Straße between the Maxbrücke over the Rednitz and the flood bridge over the Scherbsgraben. An exit from the eastern head of the station leads to a distribution floor and from there to the Kulturforum and Maxbrücke. From the western head of the station, an exit leads to a distribution floor under the intersection of Würzburgerstrasse and Kapellenstrasse and from there to all the corner points of the intersection. An elevator leads from the western platform head to the surface to the Kulturforum bus stop .

The Kulturforum and the town hall are in the vicinity of the train station .

Building and architecture

Construction work for the station began in 1997 and was carried out using the cut-and-cover method with Berlin shoring . In the course of the construction work, the "Fischhäusla" and the old Maxbrücke had to be demolished.

The architectural design was based on a design by Dana Birk (formerly Dana Tamara Trieb), who won the design competition announced by the Georg-Simon-Ohm University of Nuremberg . The platform hall looks very light due to the use of light colors and the materials stainless steel and glass. The platform walls are clad with gray tiles and provided with small wedges. These are blue in the direction out of town and symbolize the river, in the direction inward the many bright colors are intended to indicate the diversity of urban life.
