Location of the municipality of Seukendorf in the Fürth district | ||
Seukendorf (colloquially: "Saigndoʳf") is a municipality in the Middle Franconian district of Fürth and a member of the Veitsbronn administrative community . The community is centrally located in the European metropolitan region of Nuremberg, right on the city limits of Fürth .
geography
Geographical location
The municipality is located in the Bavarian administrative district of Middle Franconia and borders directly on the city of Fürth in the east. Seukendorf is located on a hill that is culturally and historically part of the Rangau between the greater Nuremberg area and the Franconian region. The Farrnbach , whose natural course separates the Hiltmannsdorf district from Seukendorf by a valley in an east-west direction, is characteristic of the landscape of the community . The place is located directly on a historically significant trade route between Nuremberg and Würzburg. With the new autobahn-like construction of federal highway 8 in the south of the municipality, the core town could be relieved of heavy through traffic. The municipal industrial park Am Seukenbach is located near the junction to this trunk road .
Neighboring communities
The neighboring communities are:
- Veitsbronn in the north
- Fürth in the east
- Cadolzburg in the southwest
Community structure
The municipality has five officially named municipal parts (the type of settlement is given in brackets ):
- Erzleitenmühle ( wasteland )
- Hiltmannsdorf ( village )
- Kohlersmühle (wasteland)
- Seukendorf ( parish village )
- Taubenhof (wasteland)
history
Although probably much older, the place was first mentioned on January 24, 1320. The final word of the place name can be the Slavic personal name Siukinriut (German: the black) or the German personal name Siuco. Seukendorf and its church have been Protestant since around 1524.
At the end of the 18th century there were 32 properties in Seukendorf. The high court and the village and community rulership was exercised by the Brandenburg-Ansbach municipal bailiff's office in Langenzenn . The landlords were the Cadolzburg caste office (1 courtyard, 1 estate, 1 shepherd's house, 1 bathhouse), the Seukendorf church and foundation of saints (1 courtyard, 2 estates), the imperial city of Nuremberg : Landesalmosenamt (4 courtyards, 3 half courtyards, 4 estates), hospital office ( 1 yard, 3 half yards ), Katharinenamt (1 yard, 1 estate), Siechkobel St. Johannis (2 yards) and Nuremberg owners: von Pömer (1 quarter yard), von Stromer (2 half yards , 3 estates).
In 1792 the margraviate of Ansbach - and with it Seukendorf - fell to Prussia , and in 1806 to the Kingdom of Bavaria .
The tax district Seukendorf was formed in 1808 as part of the municipal edict. The 1st section included the places Erzleitenmühle , Hiltmannsdorf , Kohlersmühle and Taubenhof , the 2nd section included the places Göckershof , Hausen , Horbach , Kagenhof , Raindorf and Seckendorf . In the same year the rural community Seukendorf was founded, which was congruent with the I. section of the tax district. The community was under administration and jurisdiction of the district court Cadolzburg and in the financial administration of the bursary Cadolzburg (in 1920 the tax office Cadolzburg renamed). Until 1812 there were 5 properties in the village, which were subject to the patrimonial court of the Nuremberg owner von Stromer. From 1862 Seukendorf was administered by the Fürth district office (renamed the Fürth district in 1938 ). Jurisdiction remained with the Cadolzburg District Court until 1879, from 1880 to March 1, 1931 it was with the Cadolzburg District Court , since then it has been exercised by the Fürth District Court . The financial management was taken over on January 1, 1929 by the Fürth tax office .
From around 1810 until at least 1930 the official spelling was "Seuckendorf".
In 1972 a citizens' initiative campaigned for integration into Fürth. Despite an overwhelming majority in a referendum, it was not incorporated because the Fürth district, one of the smallest in Bavaria, was not to be further curtailed.
Population development
From the 1970s onwards a rapid population growth set in, which led to a multiplication of the population up to the turn of the millennium. This development went hand in hand with the influx of families from the neighboring large cities, the planned development of new building areas with predominantly classic single-family house structures and the establishment of an industrial area. After a stagnation in growth around the turn of the millennium, this development has recently been revived with a renewed increase in the number of inhabitants.

mayor
The mayor in Seukendorf is elected irregularly (i.e. not at the same time as the municipal council). This has been going on since 1998 because the then mayor Klaus Weiß died during his term of office. The next mayoral election in Seukendorf will take place in 2022.
Werner Tiefel ( FW ) has been First Mayor since October 1, 2010 ; his predecessor was Martin Zogel ( SPD ). On July 10, 2016, he was able to prevail again in a runoff election against the candidate of the Social Democrats, Sebastian Rocholl. Tiefel is currently running for his second term.
badges and flags
The municipality of Seukendorf has had a coat of arms since 1976.
Blazon : "Under a shield head in gold, quartered with silver and black,a broken red wheel with black knives."
Red-white-black municipal flag |
|
Justification for the coat of arms: The wheel with knives is the attribute of St. Catherine and points to the once fortified church in Seukendorf, which is dedicated to her. The crossing of silver and black reminds of the local rule of the burgraves of Nuremberg and later margraves of Brandenburg since the 13th century. |
Culture and sights
Buildings
The historic town center of Seukendorf was recently carefully renovated and upgraded as part of the local renewal process, without disfiguring the character of the old, typically Central Franconian existing structure. The Protestant village church of St. Katharina was built in the 14th century and was expanded bit by bit in the following centuries. Like the cemetery around the church, it was surrounded by battlements and houses a valuable winged altar from 1521/22 from the school of Albrecht Dürer, which houses the namesake St. Catherine, as well as Saints Peter and Paul.
Facilities
The community maintains a kindergarten with six groups in the town center, three of which are toddler groups, thus taking into account the population structure with numerous young families. Professional lunchtime supervision is offered for school children. There is also a library and a fire station with an integrated meeting / assembly room. In 2015, a new sewage treatment plant was completed. Concrete plans for a "community center" in the historic town center are to be implemented in the coming years. Furthermore, an investor for a retirement home in the new development area Am Veitsbronner Weg could be won. The broadband expansion guarantees the community is optimally connected to global data networks. Seukendorf has a youth center called SKYLINE , which was formerly called NIL . This facility is located in the immediate vicinity of the local sports facilities.
Regular events
The parish fair traditionally takes place at the end of September on the fairground at the entrance to the village. Every year there is an exuberant celebration with a large pageant, marquee, rides, smaller stalls and the ski club's wine barn. It usually lasts a weekend.
At the end of November, the Katharinenmarkt in front of the parish church and a lantern procession set the mood for the contemplative season.
traffic
The approximately 800 km long federal highway 8 runs through the municipal area , which in this section is built like a motorway. Through this, the community is closely linked to the Franconian metropolitan region. The distance to the city center of Fürth is around 10 km, Zirndorf is 12 km, Nuremberg and Erlangen are around 20 km away.
The state road 2409 runs southwest to Cadolzburg . The district road FÜ 8 runs north to Siegelsdorf . A community road runs west to FÜ 2 or east past the Taubenhof to Burgfarrnbach to the district road FÜs 2 .
With several bus stops, the community is integrated into the Greater Nuremberg Transport Association (VGN). The nearest station is Siegelsdorf station, three kilometers north of Seukendorf, on the Nuremberg – Würzburg railway line . The Nuremberg Airport is 18 km away.
Sports
The SV Seukendorf e. V. offers the following categories: football, table tennis, badminton, gymnastics, gymnastics, ski gymnastics.
The Schützenverein Seukendorf eV 1980 offers a varied program for both youth and adults on the modern electronic 10m shooting range.
