Mecoprop or methylchlorophenoxypropionic acid (MCPP) is a herbicide from the class of growth agent herbicides . The main application is directed against broad-leaved weeds such as thistles, dandelions, bindweed and cranesbills . It is often used in combination with other similar herbicides such as 2,4-D , Dicamba or MCPA .

Isomerism

Mecoprop is a 1: 1 mixture ( racemate ) of two stereoisomers , whereby the ( R ) - (+) - enantiomer ("Mecoprop-P", "Duplosan KV") has the herbicidal activity.
