geography

The wasteland lies on the Bibert and Haselbach (also called Haslach), which flows into the Bibert as a right tributary, and on the Triebendorfer Graben, which flows into the Haselbach as a right tributary. In the west is the Neuach forest , in the north the Aichach forest . In the southwest in the Haslachtal lies the Kühgrund , in the southeast in the Beaver valley the corridor area Zell . The place is on the state road 2246 , which runs to Großhabersdorf (3 km northeast) or via Kehlmünz to Kleinhaslach (3.5 km southwest). The district road AN 11 leads past Lentersdorf and Rothleiten to Dietenhofen (4.5 km to the west).

history

Münchzell was first mentioned in 1142 as "Cella". The basic word "-zell" refers to the foundation of the town by a monastery. In this case it was the Heilsbronn Monastery , whose monks ran fish farming there due to the abundance of fish in Haselbach and Bibert . At that time the place consisted of four buildings: a chapel, a house (also called a small castle), a house and an economic building. At the same time, the monastery acquired meadows in the whole area around Münchzell. The farmyard was abandoned during the Reformation, as the number of monks fell sharply. The bell of the chapel was removed in 1552 and used as a replacement for the cracked tower bell in Merkendorf . In the 19th century, the then owner had the remains of the chapel wall removed and used the stones to build outbuildings. The three-pass window built into a barn wall is the last remnant of the former monastery chapel. After the abbey was closed, the little castle became a game master's apartment.

In the 16-point report of the Heilsbronn monastery office from 1608, Münchzell recorded "a Köbler sambt of the game master Hauß", who had the Bonnhof caste office as the landlord . The high court exercised the Brandenburg-Ansbach caste and city bailiff's office in Windsbach . During the Thirty Years' War the place was spared, but it was still deserted because no money could be raised for the restoration. In 1656 the Gütlein including the fish water was sold to Hans Bader for 25 florins.

Towards the end of the 18th century there were 2 properties in Münchzell (1 estate, 1 fisherman's house). The high court exercised the Brandenburg-Bayreuth city bailiff's office in Markt Erlbach to a limited extent. If necessary, it had to be delivered to the Brandenburg-Ansbach judges office in Roßtal . Both properties had the Brandenburg-Bayreuth caste office Bonnhof as landlord. From 1797 to 1808 the place was subordinate to the Justice and Chamber Office Cadolzburg . The number of households remained unchanged.

As part of the municipal edict, Münchzell was assigned to the Bürglein tax district, which was formed in 1808 . It also belonged to the rural community of Bürglein, founded in 1810 . With the second community edict (1818), Münchzell was changed to the newly formed rural community Kehlmünz .

The inn "Zur Klosterkapelle" has been located in Münchzell since the 19th century.

In the topo-geographical-statistical lexicon of the Kingdom of Bavaria (1832) the place is described as follows:

"A wasteland with 5 inhabitants, on the Haßlach, which is devoured not far from the Bibert, in the L [an] dg [ericht] Heilsbrunn and in the Pf [ar] r [ei] Bürglein, 1 12 St [ unden] from Langenzenn. The ruins of the former church are still visible, and a chapel stood on the Kapellberge. In the area you can find old burial mounds on a forest height. "

Between May 22, 1914 and September 26, 1971, the Bibert Railway ran north of the village and had a stop there .

On July 1, 1972, Münchzell was incorporated into the Dietenhofen market as part of the regional reform .
