Methlach (colloquially: Mēdl ə smíl ) is a district of the market Dietenhofen in the district of Ansbach in Middle Franconia .

The Methlach wasteland is located on the Mettlachbach, a left tributary of the Haselbach , which is a right tributary of the Bibert . The iron ditch and slope ditch flow there as the right tributaries of the Mettlachbach. The Adelmannsdorfer Forest borders in the south . The district road AN 17 leads to Adelmannsdorf (1.9 km southeast) or to Rügland to the state road 2255 (2 km west).

history

In 1714, 30 days of land were expelled from the Weißkopfschen Hof in Götteldorf , on the property of which the Mettlachsmühle was built in 1723. Methlach originated from the term Mittlere Ache , i.e. Mittelbach. The eponymous brook is written with a double t, but was also called " the Melach " in dialect in the 16th century .

The brickworks, which probably already existed in the late Middle Ages, is much older. There was a quarry nearby where quartzite was mined. For a short time she belonged to the Virnsberg Teutonic Order . At the beginning of the 18th century it was owned by the Lords of Crailsheim zu Rügland . At the end of the 18th century, the brickworks ceased operations. Since 1830 it was used as an inn.

Towards the end of the 18th century there were two households in Methlach, the brickworks. The high court exercised the Brandenburg-Ansbach Hofkastenamt Ansbach . Both properties had the Dietenhofen caste office in Brandenburg-Bayreuth as landlord . From 1797 to 1808 the place was under the judiciary and chamber office of Ansbach .

As part of the community edict, Methlach and the Ziegelhütte were assigned to the Unterbibert tax district formed in 1808 . It also belonged to the rural community of Unternbibert, founded in 1811 . With the second community edict (1818) it was re-incorporated into the newly formed rural community of Götteldorf . In the course of the territorial reform , this was incorporated into Dietenhofen on May 1, 1978.

Architectural monuments

  • The watermill on the south side of the road, which is called Methlachmühle , can deliver around 5 KW of electricity after a restoration in the 1980s. It was built in 1723.
  • The former Freiherrlich von Crailsheim'sche Ziegelhütte (from Crailsheim to Rügland) on the north side of the street. There is a six meter deep fountain from the Baroque period that is no longer in use. The west gable of the large barn bears a coat of arms carved in sandstone of the Franconian Müller-Barthél family from Ansbach and Nuremberg, the former owners in the 20th century. Above the double door of the small tavern there is a Prahl coat of arms (Bornholm), owned by his wife, Ursula Prahl, from the same time. The Prahl are an old family of pastors from North Schleswig, which also includes the famous astronomer Tycho Brahe . In the forest near this property you can still see traces of clay extraction for the brickworks on the right, about 75 meters next to the so-called totem path from the Middle Ages. The old brickworks with the small inn was demolished at the beginning of the 21st century and replaced by a new building.

The place was originally parish to St. Andreas (Dietenhofen) . Today he is looked after by the parish of St. Margaretha (Rügland) . The inhabitants of the Roman Catholic denomination were originally parish to St. Bonifatius (Dietenhofen) , today they are parish to St. Dionysius (Virnsberg) .
