Mosmühle is a district of the market Dietenhofen in the district of Ansbach in Middle Franconia .

geography

The wasteland stands a hundred meters south of the Bibert on the right edge of the meadow at the foot of the wooded Moosleite valley slope. Formerly located half a kilometer downstream from Dietenhofen, the mill is now in the outskirts of the market village, whose settlement area tends to avoid the floodplain area and whose mill road opens up to the Mosmühle.

history

The Mosmühle was mentioned around 1242 as "the mill by the swamp". Since the mill is believed to have been built around 800, it is likely to be the oldest commercial enterprise in Dietenhofen. In the so-called "Mühlgraben dispute" between Elisabeth von Dietenhofen and the Chapter Ansbach of 1318 it was probably also about the Mosmühle. In addition to the flour mill , agriculture and a cutting mill were operated. The miller donated the old baptismal font in St. Andrew's Church , which is popularly known as "Taufsteinmännla". The inscription on the font reads: "The founder of the font and the lid is Master Georg Friedrich Hofmann, Mosmiler 1728".

Towards the end of the 18th century, the Mosmühle belonged to Dietenhofen. The mill had the Brandenburg-Bayreuth caste office Dietenhofen as landlord . Under the Prussian administration (1792–1806) of the Principality of Bayreuth, the Mosmühle was given house number 78 in Dietenhofen. From 1797 to 1810 the place was subordinate to the Justice Office Markt Erlbach and Chamber Office Neuhof .

As part of the community edict, Mosmühle was assigned to the Dietenhofen tax district formed in 1811 . She also belonged to the rural community of Dietenhofen, founded in 1813 .

The mill ceased operations in 1967. Today the grounds of the tennis club and a sports hotel with guest house are located south of the mill. The clubhouse of the Motorradfreunde Herpersdorf e.V. has been in the former mill building since 2005. V. housed.
